Don't get me wrong, I love Bob Gainey. He signed my stick after a Buffalo-Montreal game in the 89 season (so did Chelios but he was a fucking dick!) and he was a great player and a great captain, but I am starting to wonder whether we're actually going to compete for a Cup during his tenure, which is already half a decade old.

No, I really don't think this year's team can do it. In fact, I think we'll burn out in the first (maybe second) round and there is a slight chance we could even miss the playoffs. What I'm saying is that when Gainey took over, I expected he could replicate the same kind of success he had with Dallas. I also think there was ample opportunity to improve last year's team, which hasn't happened clearly.
