hhmmm.... I've got a suggestion

You could have some sort of shopping cart in the website that we could use to buy all the tunes we want with just one payment.

e.g.: If I want to buy "Within Each of us (radio mix)", "cry (club vocal mix)" and "Breath (radio mix)", I would just need to choose them from a list (checking some boxes, for example), click "buy" and I'd be taken to my shopping cart where I would be able to get all these three tunes with just one payment (of € 2,97).

Then, the system could create a customised CD cover with the tracklisting of the tunes I've chosen, i.e.

1 - "Within Each of us (radio mix)"
2 - "cry (club vocal mix)"
3 - "Breath (radio mix)"

... plus, it could also print the user's name on the cover above the tracklisting. (So, the CD title would be "John Doe's favourites" - obviously, instead of John Doe would come the costumer's name ). It would be some sort of proof that you actually payed for them. In my case, I would be proud everytime I looked at it (and who doesn't like to have something customised the way they like? ). Here's how it would look like:

The cover:

The back cover:

Just a thought What do you guys think?

ps.: I've got another suggestion but I believe you'd rather talk about it in private Also, I don't know whether I should pm you or not because you're probably receiving lots or pm's from other fans Anyway, if you liked this certificate thing and you're interested on hearing this other suggestion, just pm me and I hope it may be helpful as well

pps.: Is "Visa Electron" accepted in Europe?

Love the idea......as far as someone asked earlier about tagging the mp3's use a id3 tag ive recently learned how to use them. Most mo3 release groups use them and they come with a .nfo .sfv file i dunno maybe thats a way...

ID tags are easily modified. That wouldn't work unfortunatley.

Any way you could encode it in 320k or hell, even a WAV file would be the best solution. If the problem is lack of space and bandwith, then I understand completely. Anyways, it's innovation like this that will keep the artists making money for all their hard work. It's good to see an artist try and work with technology rather than fight it like some artists (cough Metallica cough). Good luck mate!

I BET with you, in a blind test you couldn't identify whether I was playing an MP3 encoded with 192 kbit/s or 320 kbit/s to you! =)

I was also thinking about encoding my releases with Ogg Vorbis, because it has a better quality at lower bit rates. But the thing is that MP3 is (yet) much more supported.

No, the technology (MP3) is not to blame at all. I think the main problem is that people are not aware that P2P sharing IS illegal and is damaging the whole music industry - not just the big "bad" companies but especially the small labels and musicians who are NOT making millions. Believe me.. if I were bakerman, I would earn more money! =)

The problem with PayPal is that you wouldn't have instant access to the MP3! With FirstGate, you enter your user name and password, and you get the MP3 IMMEDIATELY. That's a big advantage.
I don't get your point with customers from non-EU countries - why can't they pay?

That's a very good idea indeed! But it's very hard to carry out.. it would mean lots of software development! Maybe rather suitable for a big company but not a small artist like me =)
But it might be a great idea for customized CDs.. you choose the songs, and then I will send out a cusomized CD to you, with jewel case and a color printed booklet.

Btw, of course you can send me private messages any time!

LOL

And what to downloading illegal music over the internet:
I think trance won't die because nobody supports musians, it just will be more pop, more mainstream and commercial. Like now, I don't think Ferry Corsten and DJ Tiesto are out of money to pay for food.
Some small sub-genres of electronic music maynot survive, because there is not enough dedicated and fanatic people who buy releases.

I think music must be cheaper than now. 6-10 € for one single is too much. And the sad thing is that, only very small part of that price goes to artists.

Well, probably Ferry Corsten and DJ Tiesto won't be out of money that soon, because these are the absolute trance super stars... but think of the many many smaller trance musicians (including me) who don't earn a fortune with music.

Let's be realistic.. if I wasn't doing something else besides music, I couldn't make a living.
The other way around: If I would earn enough money with music for a living, I could make music every day, and you could expect much more Nordlicht releases and remixes! =)
