Not really. I think its all about the experience you have and what you know. The only point i can see you making is that if a 16 year has just as much experience as a 21 year old, the 16 year old is better off And well thats kinda true because he's younger, but that can just as easily be a downfall, because a promoter dosent want to be hiring a 16 y.o for a gig, only to have a parental supervisor standing next to him to stop all the girls from juming on him...

To the dude that started this post, if i we're you, id buy those CDJ100's some guy was offering to sell you. there great, fun, and are a great way to start off because there alot easier to use then vinyl.(but im only saying this because of you're tight budget) im sure you have stacks of cd's that you'll be able to play on them

I cant agree with that, Dj'ing is all about the VINYL feel, you have more control, manipulation, and feel with vinyl. You dont have to get desperate, just work and buy your decks a little later.
Personally i worked for 3 months everyday at an A&W to make enough money for decks. (i think i was working 40 hr weeks during school)
After i finally got decks, this kid from my school got decks about a week later, from his dad. FOR FREE. Rich kids should get shot.

That's kind of a backwards argument. That's like saying there is no benefit to investing your money when you are 18 because you don't have much of it.

Yes, a 16 year old may have a tough time getting a gig, but which 21 year old will get a gig, one that just started, or one that's been donig it for 5 years?

That's another thing I can't stand . . . people who think they are all high and mighty because . . .

Some people have it better than others. Get over it. You've never gotten anything for free? If someone has well off and generous parents, more power to them. Would you turn it down?

if you someone feels too old to get into dj'ing then start by producing i bet you get further sooner, cuz people will know you better if you make an awesome song that tons of dj's will end up spinning than if you're some cool local dj...

It seems that to make it big, you must produce as well as DJ...
That requires an innate ability that you are born with. The great producers of music (electronic or otherwise) were born with that talent, and they were lucky enough to be able to take advantage of it.

p.s. There's nothing wrong with doing it for yourself or some friends.

WHAT do u recommend

Tech 1200's
or
CDJ-1000's

i think you should pick whichever u have more of, whether its vinyls or CDs, cause its more logical and it will help you get started. i got CDJ 100s cause i had more CDs and i couldnt afford to buy vinyls (im 17 and i started a year and a half ago) so imo pick the one u have more of then later on move to the other platform.
and also
you can never be too old to start DJing
