Oh, I quite agree. However, there are some religions (mostly dead) which do not claim their God or Gods are capable of everything.

i am religious and don't consider myself conservative or anything else. some people do believe in god just to justify their idiocy and ignorance, but i'm not one of them.
however, i truly despise the way the religion is commercionalized in america (and the name of it is baptism).
even if you are an atheist, you could at least have some respect for the centuries of traditions and values the humanity has accumulated with religion, and i'm not talking about inquisition here.

i don't consider myself to be an atheist - i believe in the christian god and for me believing in something means, that you have to believe in something you cannot see or touch - you have to feel it! this sounds strange in a way, but i can feel god, i can feel that i'm not alone in this world and that my existence isn't senceless. i can feel that he is "out there" and he helps and guides me. i have made some experiences i cannot declare as coincidence, any longer.
you cannot experience god when you dont consider it possible that there might be a god..
ok, i cant proof the existence of god in a physically way - but can you proof that there is NO god?? think about it..

This is where I have to interject...IMHO the exact opposite is true...think about it for a minute:
Standard Western Religion states:
Follow these rules and live your life in such and such a way and you'll live forever in a paradise beyond imagining.
Hence, life might be difficult, and following the rules at times might be trying, but you always are confident that you'll have an eternity of payoff in trade for what, maybe 100 years at most of obedience.
Athiesm means:
Nothing has any inherent value because life is relative, and death is inevitable. If nothing comes after death you can take the view that life is infinitely valuable, or infinitely value-less (because of the non-existence factor)
Athiesm can easily lead to nihilism, and a complete questioning of this entire existence. You have nothing to 'fall back on', and you have to make up your own reasons for living and enjoying life.
I don't know about you, but this seems a lot more difficult to deal with than the prospects of eternal life in trade for a little obedience in the here and now...

Has anyone argued from the cosmological angle?
I find that Atheists are puffed up with hubris, and are unwilling to accept that there is anything that Man cannot or will not do.
Theists are willing to accept that we cannot do everything.
Here is one of my major problem with Christianity:
Because God is omnicient, he created people that he knows will not believe in God. These people then go to hell because God created them the way that he did and then they are punished for eternity. I have trouble believing in something that would create people to just be punished.
The counter argument would be the whole free will thing. But if God created you without know what you would do, then he isn't omnicient.
My reasons for not believing in god is because of what he would stand for, not because i don't believe he doesn't exist. I cannot see believing in something like that. No that does not mean i am a satanist either.

I'm missing "one" after "because", and "don't" should be "doesn't". I really should start proofing these before I post. I'm turning into Michiline. :\
Sorry about the mix-up.

God is only a theory concieved in order to explain the beauty and mystery of nature, in the same way that evolution and the big bang are also theories. Some have a problem accepting that fact. HAHA. Try telling that to my grandparents or President Bush lol.

I learned a long time ago to stay out of religious arguments. Both sides can argue til they're blue in the face and neither side will concede to the other.
