but there is no point IMO in saying who's 'the best player ever', competing level evolues from year to year, therefore the best player nowadays is 50 times better than the best player in the 40's decade.

But if players of the past were to play now, they would be conditioned better, stronger and faster. So it really is hard to say who the best football player of all time really was/is.

BTW, my answer is Pele. His name is mentioned more than any other football player. Think about it this way. There has to be a reason that Pele's name would come up first if you were to mention the sport soccer/football. Not to take away all the other great players of their respective times.
