Wow, so many people are divided on how good the set was...
I had never seen Tiesto spin before. I was absolutely blown away! I guess with me, tho, track selection means more than mixing, so I wouldn't have noticed as much as all of you...
Rundown of the night:
I got to the TA meetup late and lo and behold, my (3rd? 4th?) cousin George was there with Taso et. al! I totally wasn't expecting to see him, I didn't even know he was into trance.
We walked over to the Roxy from Moonstruck, accidentally buying *sugar free* Red Bulls on the way there. When we got inside, I looked around and realized that I really do like that place. It's just that I've been to too many crappy parties there.
I liked Noel Sanger. He was fun to dance to.
I had a problem with the bass-heavy speakers, though. I found myself having to "go out for a smoke" (I don't smoke) right after Tiesto began his set because my more sensitive ear was hurting from it. I stuffed napkins in my ears to act as earplugs (I'm *going* to get custom made ones, I just haven't had a chance to get them yet) and after a little while the bass didn't bother me so much. Like EnigmaT, I don't know if the problem was fixed or I just got used to it.
The heat and the size of the crowd were ridiculous. But they reminded me of the tribal dance from Matrix Reloaded, so that made it bearable.
My legs started to give out on me around 4:30am or so. They were still aching from Vic's set at Arc last weekend, too. I sat down on the side and started talking to the guy next to me... then Lethal Industry came on, which is one of my favorite songs in the entire world!!! So I said "I have to dance to this!" and jumped down to the ground.... only to find I had no balance whatsoever and that the heat was getting to me more than I realized-- I almost fainted! Luckily that guy caught me, but it SUCKED to be woozy during Lethal Industry. I tried to dance anyway, kinda desperately holding onto him for balance, but it wasn't quite satisfying. And then the song was over so quickly.
I was disappointed that Tiesto ended so early also. I was just getting my energy and balance back when he ended. I stayed for a little while with Sandstorm03 for some of Noel Sanger's second set, and then we left and I walked him to the subway near my apartment. Then I went home, changed, and went straight uptown to pack the rest of my stuff from my dorm room (in order to checkout by NOON. arrggh).
Overall, it was an absolutely amazing night. Half the time I found my body moving or screaming whether I wanted it to or not... I lost my control to the music.
Those of you who I met yesterday, it was wonderful meeting you (same goes for your non-TA friends that I met, whether briefly or not)! I can't wait to see you again. I'm really looking forward to the TA six flags trip on friday the 13th ( ) so I can get to know you guys a lil better.
ps. sorry I'm so bad with names.
