fake hip hop is very well alive, and its taking over the billboard charts in the US with artists like 50 cent nelly jay-z ja rule etc...i don't even consider those artists hip hop artists, they're pop artists to me...good hip hop was in the late eighties to the late nineties when we had eric b and rakim, EPMD, wu-tang, tupac, biggie smalls, nas, mobb deep, ice cube...now these whack ass "rappers" today are living off their successes and fame

and there is no way trance will ever become big in the united states...people here dont listen to anything without vocals/lyrics and catchy beats

true, but that's just cuz they don't kno jack about electronic music and have no easy way to get into it. I'm sure if trance was played as much as rock/hip-hop in america then more ppl would get into it. Since this isn't the case, sucks for the ppl who aren't like us TAs. I'm fine with trance being big in Europe and down low in america. The thought of trance being played on american MTV...

real hip hop is indeed dead...but that means hip hop is commercialized, cheesy, radio friendly which will ensure that it makes money, gets rappers in crappy movies, dominate radio and is the background music in every other commercial...you dont want trance to "take over"

Hip Hop has the same struggle as trance has.There's a shitload of commercial crap that's getting into the charts and smelling up the whole genre, and there's lots of quality underground stuff that has quality productions, meaningful and observant lyrics and lyricist skills that are quite impressive.It's just like trance,you gotta dig past all the chart crap in order to get to all the good stuff,which there is plenty of if you know where to look. So saying that hiphop is dead cos ppl like Ja Rule and Nelly keep plaguing us on MTV is like saying trance is dead cos Lasgo and the likes are ravaging the charts.

Hip hop isn't dieying and it wont be dead in a few years either. Even if it was trance most certantly wouldnt replace it as the most popular music genre.
