fake hip hop is very well alive, and its taking over the billboard charts in the US with artists like 50 cent nelly jay-z ja rule etc...i don't even consider those artists hip hop artists, they're pop artists to me...good hip hop was in the late eighties to the late nineties when we had eric b and rakim, EPMD, wu-tang, tupac, biggie smalls, nas, mobb deep, ice cube...now these whack ass "rappers" today are living off their successes and fame
and there is no way trance will ever become big in the united states...people here dont listen to anything without vocals/lyrics and catchy beats

Hip hop isn't dieying and it wont be dead in a few years either. Even if it was trance most certantly wouldnt replace it as the most popular music genre.
