i could never see Sasha or digweed be considered cheeze artist .... not even commerical ..they rarely play the same sets over and over again.....and they have been touring US before ..... and the reason they couldnt be cheeze is that theyre playlists are so non popular with most of the crowd doesnt even know the tracks they play..so its hard to really focus on there songs and say cheeze....whether u had there music or not i cant see them ever be considered cheeze

you didn't guess it right i'm so glad that hardhouse euphoria is over.

I think, nobody saw judge jules dropping down so much (even though he spinned his best, imho, set throughout his whole career - live @ qontact)... i hoped he would get better this year. i still hope that in 2002 judge will gain the euphorism of his sets back. oakie dropped down predictably. tiesto rose up unbelieveably fast.

i think this year paul oakenfold will fall down even further (if he doesn't do something really extraordinary). i would really like to see scott bond coming up with some good stuff like his TE mix, and i have hope in judge jules too... would like to hear more of sasha, nick warren (and his way out west), dave seaman. surely look forward to hearing tiesto this year: can he amaze me even more?

The Obvious Choice.

It was very predictable that a lot of you would choose Oakenfold but I wouldn't write him off if I was you, he's been around the block a good few times and to have stayed in the 'premier league' this long he must have a lot savvy. I would suggest that he's confounded people before and he'll do it again, he's a winner.

Oakie might fall definately..but ppl will still always remember him
Tiesto is very popular right now, but da way i see him, he's very lazy nothing from dis year has impressed me in his set i guess dat Tiesto is just starting 2 be da dj 4 newbies

DJ Jean, Jurgen, and all of those other cheesy dj's might fall...but u have remember dat commercial dj's r gonna be da dj's who will always be popular

rising stars:

Armin Van Buuren
DJ Orkidea
and maybe Way Out West, we'll see on there tour in US

That's what everyone said about Paul Oakenfold in 1998-1999. Watch what happens if one day the masses decide that progressive just isn't the flavor anymore...

aslong as they spin progressive then they could never become commerical u have to understand the genre of progressive is called progressive cuz it always progresses into what new and what fresh in sound... progressive never really gets old to the ear cuz its new and inovative to the ears..but thats why many cant stand progressive cuz its not the norm.... so Oakenfold plays tunes that are more commerical to the ear easier listening stuff so it is way more likely to be considered old and commerical rather then progressive house which is always inovative and new ... like if u listen to Sasha - Expander those tunes were considered progressive back when they came out ..but when u listen to them now they are more trance then progressive ...so it shows u that progressive always changes and cant be just a trend..... the Epic trance movement was a progressive rout of trance in the late 90s.... even thought its not progressive but it was a progressed from norm trance and became a trend.....well in the other hand Progressive the genre is always new and changes so it cant ever be really trendy or commerical .

predicting the future is like...
predicting the future... impossible

"popularity will wane in the near future simply because he has become too popular. People will say "Bah... everybody listens to Tiesto, I'm cool because I like (insert unknown DJ here)"

This is soooooo true, of almost anyone. People are sheep, people are fickle. Stay DJing in yer bedroom, at least you know the crowd's always with you ;-)

I do agree with a couple of others - no more Darude, please.
And hard house is not the new trance, it's the new happy hardcore. Personally, the more popular it is the better I like it, as those parties take all the idiots who listen to commercial radio and leave the nice people for our parties.

Hmmm... guess this reads a bit misanthropic, never mind.

oh yeah... people keep going on about new tunes. Yeah, we've gotta have them, but I listen to lots of tunes each year and very few 'make it' in terms of quality - a lot of it's formulaic.

You want GOOD trance, check out stuff from around '95 to '97.
Cygnus X, Eye Q records, Flying Rhino, Eve Records, Platipus, Earth Nation... deep, fast, uplifting, melodic, hard, beautiful...

I still get a rush off it even now, and you play stuff like this to crowds who haven't heard it and they get absolutely blown away.

more like this please, rather than quasi-pop which is what a lot of the big tunes end up being :-)

my December top 11 with MP3's is up on

track of the moment - Dreams : Miss Shiva remix : VC recordings
(quality remix of a track from about '95)

see you in the USA, Canada and Europe next Summer :-)

This is completely wrong - progressive does not stand for what is currently unknown and underground. It has to do with the actual production. It is a "definable" genre. It is quite possible that progressive could become trendy. And your Xpander example is horseshit, that was considered trance from the get go, at least the short edit was, and the long one is may be a little more progressive but it really has nothing to do with what it was considered to be then or what it is now. And just to go back a little more if I can. World class Dj's got where they are for a reason. Oakey knows how to make people dance. It is a shame that some people seem to have forgotten that, that is what spinning records is all about. I'll tell you that Oakey will undoubtely spin a more "danceable" set than most of these up and coming and not quite as experienced Dj's.

never said it stands for currently unknonw and underground..... but progressive is always a genre comming out with the new sounds .... there areso many differnt kinds of progressive almost as much as trance sub genres...people used to consider it a part of trance and house..but to me Progressive is a genre all of its own.... well if there is such thing as a trendy progressive track let me know i curious to what it is... Dude when u listen to expander in 98,99 when trance was very epic and melodic.... Expander was very progressive sounding compared to other trance. usually played by other progressive djs at that time. Progressive is always on the move to change its sound...and ur reaction of my expander example geez bro dont shit a brick!!!
