please, let me know when you've finished touching this up. love to play it. will check out ur other tunes.

hehe, u may have jus inspired me to delve into producing.

thanks for listening, jay. =) im honoured to have inspired you to get into producing.. and will definitely keep you informed on when i finish it off..

how long did you play the piano for? get into producing and then you can write for us lots of uplifting piano trance tunes..

thanks in advance and cant wait to hear what you think of my other tunes!!

just took a listen to ur other tunes dude, and they're pretty funky. like liquid skies and far away, very melodic fairy tale kinda style u have. only qualm were those static noises. didnt like them at all. but i gotta ask, u classify far away as 2 step garage? is that any diff to breaks? *shrug* how long did i play the piano for? mmm. bout 5 years, but being forced to, i pretty much grew up hating the damn thing. my sis tho is completing the whole practical and theory aspects of the 8 year course. so i'm sure i'll be able to get her to sort out the harmonics of tunes for me lol

welcome to the board tho mate. lookin fwd to hearin ur other tunes in the future.

p.s. noticed you have a release on some of these tunes. are u allowed to be distributing thru mp3 if that's the case?

thanks for listening to the other tunes jay..

i guess the main difference between breaks and uk garage is.. well.. ok its kinda hard laying down exact difference. imagine a lot of breaks as just slowed down drum&bass.. others are just kinda shoot-off from bigbeat.. whereas 2 step garage has a lot more swing/shuffle in the beat, dirtier basslines (can be smooth tho).. erm, and a LOT more syncopation in the percussion. uk garage also isnt necessarily just 2step beats, its also 4 on the floor too.. hard to really put into words. easier to just listen =(

my favourite uk garage producers are sunship, mj cole, bump & flex..

sounds like you at least got a fair bit of foundation in music theory. hope to hear some tunes from ya soon mate and maybe we can even do some collab work with ur sister heading up on the piano melodies =)

wrt to mp3 release.. i actually havent checked with the record label if i can distribute those two released songs as mp3s actually.. distribution of the actual releases was pretty limited really, only within australian with most emphasis being only locally. hmm..... i better check on that..

Okay, I've had a listen to them all now and here's my humble opinions:

Far Away
You like that tinkling sound don't you. A little too much sprinkling of the magic dust goin' on man! This is good. It's nice; it's original.

Liquid Skies
Love that rumbling bass sound. I'm not really into drum and bass but this was very nice indeed. I love to feel the music and this one shook my desk. Nice energy to this one.

First Class
Better than Whereever You Are I think but still not my kind of Trance (I almost wrote I liked it then didn't *shrugs*; I am picky tho). I don't know, maybe it flows too much for me; no distinct transitions or new sounds. Just didn't do it for me but still nicely done; nice production skills. You're on the right track; I'm guessing there's an element of luck involved when trying to come up with a song that'll be big.

Inverted
Don't think I should comment on this one as it was produced from a set sample pack. Sounds skillfully done.

Chillout in Progress
Sounds good. Not a chillout fan tho so wouldn't have clue.

My advice is to just shelve Wherever You Are; or at least rework it without the girl - really put me off. I'm surprised you put that one forward as your introductory track. I'd guarantee that any successful artist in any field will have stuff they never released and I wouldn't release that one yet.

Overall though nice skills. Shit man; and you did all this with Reason 2.5?! Even the violin plucking sounds in Far Away? Nice one, and keep it up.

Anyone wanting to have a listen I'd go for Liquid Skies first; for me it's the best one.

wow.. thanks a LOT for the indepth review!!

you noticed my excessive use of that twinkling sound too, did you? =) i quite like it heheh

thanks for the headsup on keepin "wherever you are" as a shelved thing.. because the main reason why i posted it up on here is to have a straight up opinion from the general trance public whereas everyone else ive shown it to are like ppl who are just gonna say "yea its good.." etc etc

thanks again for the reviews! and yes most were done in reason 2.5.. everything you hear hehe...
