ok, here goes ..
first off a couple of things to clarify ..
There were supposed to be two screens with visuals on them .. unfortunately the 2nd projector never turned up so we had to cut back .. the mounting for the 1st projector was also too close to the screen and couldn't be changed.. hence the small size of the projections .. next big event we do with the guys from Pied Piper Graphics and Lockjaw, we will make sure this is sorted out
Ok! Now the sets,
Big A - started out nicely with some decent tunes, its just a shame only a very small number of people were there to hear him ..
Choice - brought the pace down a little bit, but brought it back up towards the end of his set .. played a varied style set..
Dirty Den - What can I say... I haven't heard den play like he did on Saturday night in a long time!! .. (usually he'd be playing a 4am set or so and i'd have left the venue by then!) .. Certainly silenced a few of his critics for sure! .. Perfect warm up for Gaz (and he was appreciative of it too)
Gareth Emery - can you say "Dance floor filler?!" only a few people left around the edges of the club, everyone else was on the dance floor .. much appreciation showed for Gareth .. this guy has an awesome future ahead of him.. played up to the crowd and was not just mixing .. I feel sorry for Melbourne who doesn't get to see gareth play.. you guys are truly missing out..
Pulser - Despite a couple of hiccups (damn dirty stylii!) he kept it going through til 5 am when finally a few people just couldn't handle it anymore and had to sit down! Pulser brought it up tempo and also played up to the crowd ..
The intermission all 2 minutes of it was brought to you by a very drunk Huebor and his bad drunken, broken voice (I CAN'T HEAR YOU ! CHEEER LOUUDER FOR THE BOYS!#%) *shakes head*
Dr Willis - Nutter. That is all
Those who attended right to the end or paid attention to the flyers left around the venue would've noticed the flyer for the after party .. originally scheduled for Big A, Akira and Guests .. Gaz and Pulser jumped up and played a back to back set from 7am til 8am (well, about 8.15 until we had to tie gaz up and drag him away from the decks and the ladies!) unfortunately we had three other DJs lined up, but the after party venue wanted to close early (Akira didn't get to play, and we had lanithium and jon noonan lined up too, sorry guys )
Overall, it was a success in that all the DJs enjoyed themselves, the crowd did too (from what I could tell .. cheeeeeeer louuder!).. hope to see more of the perth trance community come out and support the gig next time we bring over an international.
Saturdays at Quarantine are still the place to be for your weekly trance dosage .. keep an eye out on the thread here and on our website www.oep.com.au.
Thats it, I think.
A very broken huey.
p.s. I'll see if i can get the guys to come on and post some thoughts .. will also try and get their track listings off them..
