Cats piss all over the place generally to mark their territory, especially if there's another cat about. My cat started doing that a while back, the only thing that seemed to stop her doing it was to put sliced raw onions down where she'd go. Cats hate onions apparently. She's well cute though so I let her off.

Well, it took a while, but the cat finally died.
not that i really hated the cat, i hated the mess.
it sucks for my parents cause they had to put her down on their wedding anniversary...but it happens.
i do this for a living...so here goes (soory abot typos)
1. cats will continue to pee and poo in places that have been soiled..u must get an odor neutralizer(ne pet store) and clean the areas even if YOU dont smell it the cat will.
2. pristine litter box--she can be acting fussy
3.territory issues-u mentioned her attacking your BF or friends..it is not jelousy she is treathened by them they are "intruders" so if the behavior coincided w/ a person moving in or change-u have to give her a chance to adapt.
4. make sure she isnt sick! go to the vet
5. all else fails retrain her by keeping her in one room w/ 2 litteboxes...until she is useing it reguraly..then expand on that.
6.please dont punish her by negative means. you have to "train" cats by fooling them into thinking that THEY make the choice..they are not like dogs-that want to please u.
goodluck!!
ps..#1 reason dogs and cats are euth are due to behavoiral probs that could be worked on.

As far as dogs being smarter than cats..
You dont see my cat sticking his nose in any other animals ass.. Every time our choc lab tries it to the cat.. he turns around and slaps his head silly.
