i can search day and night on kazaa and not find half the shit i have gotten from soulseek, i think 1 in every 10000 mp3s is a vinyl rip, everything is some shit off one of those 30 track compilation albulms that have 2 minutes a song

My 2 cents:

Kazaa sux, plain and simple. I have no idea why people still use it. Anyway, Soulseek is one hell of a program... that is if you know how to get what you want. If you meet other users with the same taste and can get your buddy list full of those people, you can download anything you want.

As far as being "remotely queued", that is part of p2p. But if you leave the program on all the time this isn't a problem. Also, I've found just as much trance on soulseek as I've found house, prog, etc..

The only major problem is that the server goes down alot. But if you want certain songs, either put up or shut up. I haven't tried the DC hub but IMO Soulseek kills all other programs in terms of quality music.

people will continue to use Kazaa because it is the easiest way to find any mainstream music, before discovering this forum i used Kazaa exclusively and thought it was great, i now realize that it is only good for mainstram music and sucks for trance and any form of music that is not top 40 material.

No kidding, unless you're into top 40 Kazaa is as close to worthless as you can get...with all the terrabytes of data that're being shared on that system you'd think that *someone* would see fit to share *something decent*...but I guess all of those people are smart enough to avoid Kazaa

I occasionally redownload Kazaa and use it, but only to get television eps (Sealab 2021, Space Ghost, Zim, etc.) for music, IMHO, it's ass.

If you're not actively using your computer the d/l speed slows to a crawl, and the selection is a joke.

I first started collecting MP3 files during the AG days, and Kazaa, in comparison, has always paled.

File sharing seems to have come full circle, initially it was FTPs, then it exploded into huge aps that everyone could use like Napster and AG, and now it's come back to specialization. I wouldn't dream of using anything other than Soulseek or the Hub at this point.

Lol soulseek is full of people who like some 'alternative experimental' track - any genre, just has to have had no more than 20 pressings on an obscure label in iceland for them to like it.

They listen to a couple of tracks on some MoS album and decide they dont like trance - the fact that they think that's what trance is prooves they are tools.

It's like us saying we don't like their music because Celine Dion is crap .

something is wrong with slsk...it tends to lose connection, and doing so cuts off the internet to my whole computer.

It's worth it though, SLSK is damn good for live sets. I love the wishlist feature

But when it comes down to it, DC++ owns everything out there..

btw, I miss Audio Galaxy and Napster so bad
