OK, this person is clearly not mentally stable if they are convinced you are reading their mind.
On a serious side- don't try to hurt him, he doesn't realize what is going on; people who are fucked up in the head, don't know what they are doing. If he tries to hurt you, then yes, use self defense, but don't try to hurt him purposely if you don't need to. Be cautious! Like I said, people who are mentally ill, do not know what they are doing, so he may go crazy and try to harm you. DO NOT act like you are reading his mind, or he is reading yours. DO NOT play any games! He cannot tell the difference between reality and his imagination. Don't play around with his head, it is already fucked up enough! I suggest you keep your door locked for quite a while, and if he shows up again, call 911, and tell them what is going on. Don't even acknowledge that you are home, just immediately call the police. Tell the operator you are truly fearing your safety.
This guy needs to be put into a hospital... sounds to me like he is a paranoid schitzophrenic.
I know how to deal with people like this because I used to work in a hospital as a volunteer, and we had a lot of mentally ill patients try to escape and such. We were told to NEVER play along with what they are saying, it can elevate things to a much higher and more frightening level. Also, to never make bodily contact with them; it can trigger their senses and make them go wild. I know it sounds like they are animals, but when they cannot think correctly, they need to be treated like a wild tiger. You never know what they are capable of doing. How do you think murders happen? Most of the time, the murderer is mentally ill.
You shouldn't take this lightly. It can be a very serious situation, that you need to tippy toe around. A stupid move on your part, and you may have to get yourself into the witness protection program.
