the thing you need to understand is, tiesto was rated number one in the world, pretty much because of the fact he was a big name at the time, as im sure 99.9% of ppl on this board have seen the absolute outrage because of him being picked number 1, because they dont fewel he is good enough, but to a lesser educated crowd i.e. the radio market as opposed to the club market, the likes of tiesto that is putting out a lot, will seem like a great pioneer of the sound, this is exactly the same with Dana, she is a very accessable name in hardstyle, with not too rough a cut to be appreciated by more ppl than lets say DHHD which induce rougher sounds hard basslines and kicks, which renders theyre style as slightly more underground and less enjoyable to most people.
as with technoboy, i feel his career on the hardstyle circuit went great, but going on how you like your hardstyle your opinions will vary. I for example, hate the italian cheesey crap hardstyle which the likes technoboy produce, along with all the 'wobbley hardstyle' that emerges from italy.
as i have said many times before, hardstyle is a sort of commercialised version of gabba/nu-skool gabba, which emerged from the bowels of hollands underground where it lived for many many years, but the italians took this added theyre own herbs and flavourings, and came up with theyre rendition of hardstyle, slightly after this birth, came the dutch's variation of hardstyle.. keeping true to the gabba style, industrious sounds and tweeks along with your standard hars kicks on a slower scale than before = dutch hardstyle.
in response to ghost face. hardstyle has no ties with hard trance or hard house. although the latest hardstyle offering have a twang of the hard trance vibe, this is not a spawn of hard trance, this is purely a driving feature added to the genre of recent times, trance was not the influence of hardstyle in wany wayshape or form, same goes for hard house. hard house is a fun form of music that mostly contains an element of funk, which hardstyle does not contain. although in holland, hardstyle is sumtimes referred to as hardhouse, but i am completly against this, as there is no justification for it.
also fairly new to the market, is techno-hardtsyle, which basically is exactly what it says on the tin, hardstyle with techno influences, all the mental loops and sounds from techno with a hardstyle twist, examples of this are tracks by DHHD, keeping it rough raw and anti cheese
i hope this settled a few things, cos my fucking wrists hurt now : lol
