The Michael Woods Remix of "Try" is the only version I like, and it's really good in my opinion.
Regarding, starting out with "cheese", I'm sure it is a common occurence for many people as most "cheesy" stuff is very chart friendly, and it catches the attention of mainstream listeners who then research further into what genre this is, and therefore get more and more into it. Although not in my case. Without sounding big headed I think it's a safe enough bet to say I've been into electronic music for longer than at least 70% of the people here. I've been listening since 1993 and fully developed my tastes with the mid 90's UK Trance/Progressive house in 1995. I've ended up listening to virtually all styles of electronic music, and that includes everything from Progressive House to commercial "Vocal Cheese". I don't like to draw lines between what I'll listen to and what I won't, I like to keep an open mind and listen to what my ears actually like, rather than worrying about what other people think of me. Check my vinyl collection in my sig to see what my preffered style of music is.
Also, what some people need to learn is the difference between a negative opinion and personal attack. Negative pinions are generally acceptable, and in general should make everything more interesting. However, personal attacks are not acceptable and will turn a thread down a completely wrong thread.
Examples:
Personal Attack:
"wtf? go post this fuckin shit somewhere else you little ******. how the fuck can you like this shit?"
or:
"you dont like Armin??? you don't fuckin like trance you little noob. do urself a favor and go fuck yourself"
That is aimed at the opposing side in person and is attacking somebody for having different tastes. How anybody that's over a single figure age would ever do this is completely beyond me, but I see it all too often.
Negative opinion:
"This track is bland and unoriginal."
That's just stating the point of view from one person and is exactly the thing that forums are for. It's not aimed at provoking anyone, it's not showing any hate towards other person, in no way is it stating that it's a fact, therefore there's nothig wrong with that.
Although it's a waste of time saying that, because no matter how many times that, or something similar is said, it will still happen.
