Gil, I agree with you 100% ... but I don't think that goa/psy and commercial trance are mutually exclusive. Despite trance becoming worse nowadays, there's still WICKED tracks being produced ... I don't know if you listened to the new Etnica album but I think you would be pleasently surprised.
Also the goa scene is alive and kicking, although on a much smaller scale than it used to be 5-10 years ago. There's still gatherings happening all over the place. And I don't think the commercial trance scene is standing in the way.
Eugene, I don't think you're really qualified to comment on this issue, considering you just described goa as "sleepy". I play goa, and I have tracks that would make you run and hide in a corner whimpering like a little child ... pure psychedelic evilness at 150+ BPM. Please make sure you know what you're talking about before making comments like that. If anything, trance has become a lot slower and LESS danceable in the last few years.
IMO. the real trance has returned underground about 4-5 years ago. The music that is called "trance" right now is nothing but pop electronic music written for mass appeal.
hmm
let's see where this thread goes.
peace

Goa Trance is dead, long live Epic! Yeah right.. This is the nature of revolution. Let it be, it has a life of its own. You can't stop it, you can't steer it, and you are not in control. Your venting is just a waste of energy. Enjoy the moment, for that moment never dies. That is what Trance is all about, the timelessness that is untouchable.
I also the like the present producers like Dumonde, Push, Airscape, etc el. I wouldn't disrespect them, they have produced great renditions for the Trance scene.
Outdoor Raves are the best, the best place to meditate and commune with nature when Trance is spinning.
Trance is Eternal.

Yeah, I know the feeling, Gil just comes off a bit pointy about it. There used to raves where it only costs 5 bucks, and it was all underground with constant different locales. The drug use wasn't that high and E was an unheard drug back then. Now, you got to rob a bank to go to these raves and everybody is doped up on something. LOL
Gil thinks Goa is the shiznit. I think Hardcore Tech was banging insanity back in the early 90s to mid 90s in my town. Now, it's dead as roadkill. There's only one female (Double D, a diehard hardcore fan) Dj that still plays it.
I think when people, who's been involved in the Rave scene, starts disrespecting some popular Trance styles, they lose sight of unity. One should be able to appreciate all the styles that are part of the Rave subculture. If there is one thing that I have learned through the years of raving, that the people and the music bring the power of community: love and respect above all else. We won't find this type of vibe in ANY night club that plays top forty crud, which caters to egos, attitudes, and intolerance.
Peace

You can't blame me for telling my opinion.
Don't you think Israel's mainstream is Epic and Uplifting?
yes it it, at the moment...
now the Tech House and Minimal Techno makes their way into the mainstream... and I feel bad about it, I don't know why, I think Psy Trance and Goa Trance doesn't get the respect they should get, I think more underground bands needs to stand up and say:
"We won't walk quitly into the night, we won't give up without a fight"
and really start making some crazy shit parties all over the country, and all over the world
I don't remember who said it but someone here posted something about Psy trance in Canada or Toronto or something like that, anyway, I have a DJ friend there that I talk to every day (almost, unless i'm busy fighting arabs) and I get alot of uptades about the scene over there, the last update I got was that Psy Trance and Hard Trance rules the scene over there, not Epic and Uplifting, maybe there are clubs who plays epic and uplifting but the mainstream there is Psy and Hard trance (thats atleast what he told me, I havn't been there in years).

And finally...
Whenever someone titles a thread like this
"Thats it! No more commercial and crap trance for me!"
there's a 100% chance that someone will be offended. Not me, not you, but somebody else for sure. This site is supposed to be friendly and we all have different tastes and opinions. So choose your words carefully!
|
Why do you say that?
I'm only expressing my opinions and I don't think it will offend someone, if it did, then i'm sorry but thats the way I feel.
