I agree with genres being stupid little boxes that can't encompass what the music is. In the end trance is what you your self define it to be, and every piece of music falls under it's own genre, it's own little being, if it sounds different it is different.
Genres only specify certain traits, and what is a piice has some of the traits of one type of trance, some of another and some entirely of it's own? It's a new genre, and every track has, at some level, some characteristics particular to the track, and so every track has to be in a slightly new sub genre, that gnere is the tracks artist, name, and mix.
The whole thing is, genres pretend to have a point, they pretend that they help you choose and find similar tunes, and thats true to some extent.
But some assholes get the purpose of genres wrong and focus on how they can classify every bit of music in existence, just like a taxonomist classifying creatures. They use genres as an excuse to show their knowledge of the technicalities of a piece, all they really want is to argue with another guy about how to classify a track to show off how much they apparently know and just how bloody smart they are.
