Like so many have stated in this post already, my main deterent for not going to the Zone was the endless datails I have recieved about the nature of the sketchy crowds. Secondly, after about eight hours of parting at the Guv., I am usually too tired to go. However, you really don't know how you will experience a club until you percieve it through your own eyes. As a result, I just might make it out to the Zone one of these days, when my energy supplies are bountiful.

The only problem with zone is the amount of ppl on G. I find generally that the rules there are no different than System, Guv, or any other club with a drug/booze party culture.

Stick to your own if uncomfortable, make new frends if you so desire, and be friendly regardless, and enjoy the music.

As for Diginut's doubts regarding the music taking another lvl, give it a shot, and don't knock it until you've tried it. I've caught many out of town big names there as well as the locals, and not every set is good ( like any club), but man the intensity lvl is practically a sure thing, given that all the talent are headliners @ the weekend's major events and clubs.

If you consider yourself a clubber as opposed to a Top 40 bar goer (like Joe or Phoenix or Joker), you're probably as aprehensive about zone as bar ppl are about clubs and that "stupid repetitive music". I'd like to see a bunch of you anti/non zoners come along on a fieldtrip with us semi/full/old timers, and make your own decision instead of being a bunch of fraidy-cats.

Hmmm... don't know about that Rob... I've been to the Zone about a half dozen times and agree that the music is unbelievably SICK. And Aaron, I've often been there on my way to being completely sober and have found it amazing! Yes, they are local DJs but the energy is... I don't know... different, sexy, tribal, grrrrrrrrrrowl! However, I've been (and will continue) to go to System and Guv on my own, but would never go to the Zone by myself. The rules are similar, but with a little twist in that I know if there was problem at System that I would be taken care of, but at the Zone, not so sure... although that might be because it's so darn dark!

I would still recommend checking it out though, if you're in adventurous mood... Addy, Deko-Ze and the rest of the gang play some REALLY driving stuff... IMO... Don't knock it 'til you've tried it!!!

Well Erika, that's unfortunately implied for the women in the scene, although going somewhere you know you'll find familiar faces and good friends is the main reason next to the music to go to any club.

Ok I gotta defend the zone just a little bit. I love that place.

It's no coincidence here that everyone thinks the djs at the zone takes it to another level. Here's my take on why music just sound so good there.

When you walk in, you'll notice right away the place is a shithole. It is dirty and the ceiling is so low. However if you can get past that then you'll have a great time because the music is top notch. I truly think the intimate setting has a lot to do with the music sound so great. The vibe is just amazing.

I remember my first time there. Me and a buddy was still high and we needed a place to just chill. No one wanted to go to zone with us because they kept hearing stories, so me and him went anyways. I went there with an open mind and had a blast, thoughout the whole night I was thinking to myself "holy crap, this joint has the most pumpin' music I've heard anywhere! "
My friend on the other hand (his first time there too) was just so paranoid that he just wanted to leave after a while no matter what.

As for the sketchiness of the crowd, yes there's no denying the fact. However I've never had a bad experience there yet. Every where I turn there were people smiling at me and I'd be smiling at them, It's very nice.

I think I'll end there. But back to the sketchiness of the crowd, oh man I have so many "zone" stories to share LOL if anyone is interested. Like this time at zone this girl invited me over for a 3 some....but it's not what you might think, LOL...

Aaron, i think this is a case of dont knock it b4 youve tried it. Seems to me that everyone who has posted in this thread either agrees with me on this, or cant get past the paranoia. CZ is purely an acquired taste and shouldnt be bashed unless you've been there.

I've been hitting the CZ after most big events for the past three years and I have never had a bad experience. Just the opposite in fact.

Any doubts about the dj's taking things to another level would be gone within the first minute of a De-koze set. I've never seen or heard anything like it and I've seen De-koze at various venues on many occasions. He's just a madman when he's at the CZ.

I think the club is what you make it. Just do your own thing, enjoy some seriously nasty tunes, ignore the moron bouncer at the front door (the rest of the staff is really quite cool in my experience), and just dance!

The place is grungy as hell, but the stories that make it sound like you'll be lucky to get out alive are just alot of hype. I've found this to be especially true in the last year as the place has become busier and the crowd more normal (if you can call any of us who are still partying at 10am on a Sunday normal!).

See ya!
Obe

Horrible

In the last 6 years of partying I have never stepped foot in the comfort zone until this past july. I considered that place to be the point of no return in regards to crack head level. 2 friends of mine came up from jersey and were convinced by one of my 'club friends' to go there. Reluctantly, i gave in and went.

I agree the music is good but I think it better suits my 2:00 am track request list. It felt as if it was a congregation of society's outcasts. Without getting into any details all I gotta say is that place is EVIL.

Allthough it was such a bad experience allot of good came out of it. Since then I have cut down big time my party habits and often party sober now only because i refuse to be a distant part of that shit i saw at comfort zone.

from how my friends that know me have described it, i pretty much have a handle on what to expect from the music. no doubt i would enjoy it. for me tho, it's not worth it, from what these same friends have told me, i would find the atmosphere to be disturbing, so unless matt ever plays there and i can be in the booth w/ him, i will never experience it.

and w/ reards to the 'next level' comment- you could say the same about montreal.

The night/day just doesn't seem complete until I've stopped off at Church... Damn straight it's evil, muhahahaha!! You people need to get in touch with your dark side, then you'll see the Zone really isn't all that bad. I do however find myself in amazement trying to picture the sketchpads living "normal" lives outside of the Zone, they sure as hell ain't kindergarten teachers

are you the first person in this thread to call it church? i remember my mother calling me at 1pm on a sunday, and we were chillin at my boy's apartment (in TO - i live in Buffalo, NY), and she asked me if i had fun the previous night, and if i'd be stopping over for dinner. i said, "well...i'm not sure mom. we had a pretty late night, and i can't believe we actually made it to church."

and i could tell you some of the professions of my crew...1st grade teacher, high school teacher, nurse, IT Consultant, actor, hahaha...i'll stop here.

11 more days
