the official tranceaddict tune of the year will be done in january. Whether you like it or not the master, that is what was decided by others, not by me but have your competition if you wish.

The time mr_stamper ran it, only 70 persons decided the final voting, which is not really fair. And last year, the system JayD used took until May to get the final results. So they both can rest this year.
This time the voting will be huge. Everyone will have almost 2 months to cast their votes, with the option of changing their votes ONCE, and you will get partial results each week starting this saturday.

I agree, the last 2 years, voting was not so well-done. I think it's a good idea, to open polls early and leave room for people if they want to change their minds. Do you really think that it's a good idea to use a point system (1 to 5) instead of just regular counts for each track (1 point for each track regardless of position)? Anyways, thanks for making the effort Mast, As the Rush Comes HANDS DOWN.

With all respect, just because these tracks are still played by the world's best DJs doesn't make them great. DJs only spin what the masses want, and masses are idiots 99% of the time. The fact that these tracks are still played does give them some respect, however, the reason these tracks are continued to be played is that they are very pop and this makes them easy for everyone to listen. Oh, and please don't give me that line 'LISTEN TO THE LYRICS MAN.' I love good lyrics, I write lyrics and poetry myself. I take poetry classes and I'm very interested in literature. However, these songs have nothing special about their lyrics. Production on 'ATRC' is decent, but nothing great. 'Beautiful Things' is okay in lyrics department, but sounds too plain and very boring. I'm not saying that these tracks suck, but they are NOT GREAT, and NOT CLASSICS as everyone claims that they are. Move on please.

okay, the point system is clearly of fuckwit design in my opinion. It's rough translation into english would be "pick your top 5 tunes, the 5th being of 20% value of the first." How is that logical, your top *5* tunes are a very very pedantic scope of your tastes, they probably all rank in the upper percentiles (if you were to actually "score them" +-10% of each other. The current system is weighted the wrong way *IMO*.

Still not sure exactly what im saying?

Think of it as a race with at least a thousand entries. In the said race, only 5 people actually "rank" everyone else gets no recognition.

With current point system it portrays the 5th place holder as "20%" of first place. as in 20% of a runner. Even though there times are probably only marginally different (within 5-10% of each other).

I think it should either be

14
13
12
11
10
this way 5th place holds approximately 71% of the value of first (as to a mere 20%)

or

1
1
1
1
1

i realize in actually point scored competitions they go "9-6-3-2-1" typically. But keep in mind
a.) a lot less "competitors"
b.) "A" is the result of qualification rounds for said championship("heats") as well as the fact most competitions probably don't have a 1000 different entrants.
c.) This isn't exactly the same thing, it's more subjective, like interpretation of ice skating (judges), except in this case, the judge can't decide the score of all the competitors, just the 5 s/he chooses.

-nik ^^

Very good point.

On the surface the point system seems right, but it's highly skewed towards what people number first and second.

don't hate people for their tastes

a definite clear cut:

1. Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Gabriel & Dresden Sweeping Strings Remix)
2. Andain - Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)

3. Evanescence - Hello (Trifactor vs. Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
4. Mark Otten - Musrhoom Therapy (Lightscape Remix)
5. Scott Bond vs. Solar Stone - 3rd Earth

come to think of it... looks like a G&D year for me interesting, those are the only tracks that came to mind....

***EDIT
damn it, i hate doing top lists, there are so many track i like and they're too different to be compared

Infusion - Legacy (Junkie XL Remix) = OWNAGE!

Shouldn't there also be a pre-vote thread where people can debate what were the best tracks of the year? Putting out a thread like this where people can instantly vote seems skewed towards tracks that are more recent in memory. 2003 goes back some time.

And where are the Vandit-whores? Doesn't Nothing But You count? Or does it lose out on both 2002 and 2003 because it fell between years? The same thing happened to POS - Remember (Summer Sun).

Edit: Was Nothing But You even in the 2002 heats?
