Chewy: I guess it's a hobby. I'm a regular at http://headwize.com/ubb/forums.php and http://www.head-fi.org/forums/index.php (as are many of the other people in this post). Anyways, Neruda, about the V6's bass, I ICQ'ed you on the topic a while back, and I think we still need some closure... Anyways, Chewy, you are going to be using these for general listening ONLY? Under what circumstances, with what equipment, to what form of music, with what budget?

Right now im using a pair of MDR-V600 and i find it very hard to hear the beats. But they arent my cans, so not much I can/will do.

Also, it is a good thing I dont try to EQ what I hear thru the headphones, cuz the EQ does nothing to the levels in the headphones on the Vestax PMC 170A..Id be really messed!!!

J_spot: That's odd. One of the only things the V600's HAVE is really loud, boomy midbass, and I believe that the beats are midbass, correct? 80-120 hz? you are talking about the whump whump whump in the background, right? The V600's, to my knowledge, can't do anything BUT those whump whump whumps...

I think something is messed up in your setup...or are the beats lower than that (If they are, than that's probably why; the V600's don't go very low)

NZWaverider,

http://www.musiclab.com.au/ has the 7506's for 250, but you can probably negotiate it down a little, if you try, and say you've found it for cheaper elsewhere. *Pause* how much is that USD?

Gluegun: That's strange. The MDR-V600's that I used to own had almost NO bass response to speak of...

j_spot: The reason why you can't hear the beats on your MDR-V600's is that those V600's can't reproduce bass well. In fact, in a frequency-response graph of those V600's there is a big hump just below the middle of the midrange! This overboosted lower-to-middle mids tends to overpower whatever little bass those V600s deliver - and at the same itme, it gives those cans that "honky" characteristic in their sound! Why did you waste close to $150 CDN on something that can't reproduce bass - not even the mid-bass?

Of course they don't have any bass. Like I said, they have bloated midbass (I believe that we are disagreeing about the midbass. They can't reproduce it accurately, of course, but there is a LOT of it...), which is why I asked if the beat was lower than midbass, and, if it was, it would be the reason that he can't hear it...

Max2LC,

Why does EVERY DJ think the V700's are great? they SUCK! JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE V###DJ line, which sounds the same!! Read this ENTIRE thread to find out why! The things suck! Get a set of mdr-v6's...or if you want something that sounds like the V700's (only better), get the Koss UR-20's for $25...sheesh...why pay $160 for a headphone when you can get one that sounds the same for $25, and one that sounds better for $80? I just don't understand...

And about all the good dj's using bad tools? They've all been bought out by Sony, silly, and have learned to compensate for using bad tools (IE, the V700DJ) by not using them as a basis for how the mix sounds (just using them for beat matching, NOT equalization or anything else important).
