really? says who? to find out lets first look at the definition of liberalism:

A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans and the autonomy of the individual and favoring civil and political liberties, government by law with the consent of the governed, and protection from arbitrary authority.

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=liberalism

i guess labor unions and civil rights movements are a prime example of how little we care about the common man, huh?

so? some people cant get work or are unable to work. what do you suggest we do with them? send them to prison camps? mass executions? or just ostracize them from our society for being obsolete? theres nothing wrong with paying a small tax for the benefit of those in hard times.

can you back any of this up with reputable source? i think not.

Because he can't stand the fact a republican has done something for a voting block they so deeply cherish and depend upon. Anything that comes out of that fat murderers mouth makes me want to puke. In his speech to a group of elderly, he hollered to them, "Get up, get up". I'm sure when he drove that car off that bridge into the water in '69 he said the same thing as it was sinking, "Get up Ted, get up". And he did and left a woman to drown in the back seat while he ran away like a coward. He didn't report the wreck till 24 hours later. He is scum and it's a travesty that people vote for this POS. He opitomizes the fat, gluttoness, slothen white ugly American. And his nephew Michael Skakel is another prime example of what he stands for.

so one bad person ruins the whole bunch? from your post so far from your posts it seems your just an ignorant texan that bitches a whole lot about something he seems to know little about. does that make all texans bad? i doubt it.

(im going to ingnore the fact that you used the word 'white' between slothen and ugly. as if you meant to say that being white is something to be ashamed of.)

Now with the capture, they will no longer be able to say GW didn't get his man. As for Bin Laden, by looking at the shape old Sadam was in when they pulled his sorry ass out of that hole, I'd bet a month's pay maggots have already stripped Laden's bones clean. Sadam said he would go out in a blaze of glory. Bull shit

exactly, how do democrats have any relevance in your argument? your flaming liberals, lets try to stay on subject, mmmkay? unless youve confused democrats and liberals to be the same. in that case, id suggest you use a dictionary before you go running your mouth.

you mean by leaving capitalists alone? so the gap between rich and poor can grow? why the fuck would anybody want to do that?

or do you mean by levying the rich? why shouldnt we? they get tons of money and its not like theyre doing backbreaking work out in the sun all day. a few relatively small taxes isnt really gonna hurt em.

and in case you didnt know, its those same companies that eventually learn that they can lay off factory workers for cheap labor in third world countries.

also, i suggest reading dave's post above. he makes some very good points.

Bush might be good at invading other countries that don't stand a chance and starting wars and spreading propaganda to boost his ratings, but he doesn't know how deal with our internal problems, which, in the long run, is what we really need.

See now, this really is an interesting question. Dubya is the firts MBA president. He actually probably knows a lot more about economics, business, and general macro stuff than most of his predecessors actually knew. His controversial tax cuts and budget deficits have actually resulted in a boost to internal economic activity and unemployment has been trending lower while overall taxes have gone down. Fiscal policy has long time lags and the effects of his actions haven't really taken their complete toll yet, but already they have shown a good level of effectiveness. Arguments like these are starting to sound more like beating the drums of opposition for opposition's sake more than anything.

Yep, job growth is showing potential even in the face of the mass exportation of jobs overseas to third world countries. It probably does have more to do with a cyclical business cycle of boom and bust than any actions of the current or past president.

Bush is a moron, but that doesn't mean that people won't vote for him. Here are a few points...

A. During the debates Bush talks R E A L S L O W and doesn't cover too much. This is a plus in many cases because a lot of people can't follow what smart people say very well. Also, remember all that BS he started doing with peoples names during the 2000 debates? There have been numerous idiots in power because of 2 things. 1. They have smart people on their staff. and 2. People like being smarter than the president. Look at Canada, our last PM couldn't even speak one of the two national languages properly.

B. Most elections are predicatble in nature. In the US there are only a handful of states that matter. The rest usually go a certain direction each time. Winning those states is what gets you elected. As I see it now, Florida will decide it again, and it is leaning towards Bush.

C. The world is revolving around defense and military power right now (as sad as that might be). People that don't educate themselves usually just vote for the traditionally militaristic party.

D. Dean is REALLY far left. This is going to turn a lot of people off, no matter how dumb he makes Bush look in the debates. Some might even feel sorry for Bush because of it. Sympathy also counts.

E. If you follow yuppie trends at all, you know how popular Bush was when he took office (purely on a superficial level). People dressed like him, he was was the elderly pin-up boy. He is coached on fashion and speaking manners very diligently by very smart individuals.

F. In 2000, Bush drew lots of Democratic voters because his policies gave them extra cash. While many would say that's obsurd since the good of the world is at stake, many are nearsighted and wouldn't mind the extra 2 grand that they save by checking the Bush box.

oh man there are so many points I want to make, but lets just stick to this so far. i am liberal by the way. just wanted to throw in my fitty cents.

i would love nothing more than to see clinton back in power. but until the Dems find another Clinton, they are going to be reliving the 80s. Dean is no Clinton.

Dean appears to be alienating the centrist Clinton-esque wing of the democratic party and has actually termed the Clinton term in office as being "damage control" against the republicans ... angering many centrists (and the Clintons) in the process. I think we're going to see a lot of political maneuvering in this upcoming election depending upon Dean's performance in the democratic nomination. You can bet Bill Clinton was not pleased (and a lot of other democrats as well I'm sure) with Gore's backstabbing of Lieberman. At any rate, I'll reiterate my stance that as much as I would like to see bush out of office, Dean cannot do the job. I don't think he would be able to capture the votes of even the entire democratic party much less the independant votes or steal republican votes. Furthermore, as the economy continues to improve, he cannot keep campaigning on the "I hate Bush, he's making everything suck" ticket instead of campaigning his merits and how he's going to be any better.
