If person's taste in music changes, it does so not because of conformity based on the direction the scene is going in, but in evolution of their own taste.

You can't honestly tell me that I'd start listening to country if thats what our scene turned into, or, that I'd lose interest in "House/Progressive/Techno" if it became mainstream. Can you? Thought so. Therefore, I have to bring up my point about your denouncing of people's taste in music, yet again..

Yet again?
It was just a correlation man...

And what's wrong with country?
Come on...cowboy hats and glow shticks, yeehaw!
Now where's that Shinia remix....

Or maybe because they're a little too clique-y with them having simular tastes in EDM?

OR maybe some of us just don't like it anymore, not cos it's "tribe cool" to not like trance. i don't bash trance, it's just not my thing at all nowadays. and i'm glad not everyone likes the same thing. blah...i dunno where i'm going with this.

oh and mark, "aly from glasgow" says "hi"

Jesus. Conformity with respect to seeing Trance as something associated with newbies - not saying that those that like House/Techno/Progressive are conforming and that there are no 'real' fans of that music. Eesh.

Smile Mark, How you've changed my life!!!!!!

Mark!!! First I must say you are amazing and "The Gift" was awsome. I had an amazing time and as always you ripped it up. Thanks Again!!! I remember the first time I saw you live, it was at Limelight (ok so I was still 18 and I could get in) and I was in awe. You changed my life that night, it was the night I fell in love with TRANCE. My brother took me to see you on my 19th birthday and I was blown away. The Guv (and you) were the most amazing things I had ever experienced...... It is now 4 years later and I am going strong, I can't stand to miss a Saturday at the Guv (its unfortunate that sometimes I have to work). On Saturday you captured the Guv. You played so many classic guvenment tunes I couldn't believe it. When you busted out Frankie goes to Hollywood - "The Power of Love" I went ape shit lol. Like I said you are totally awsome!!! Keep up the good work

Actually it's because people have become too much of purists these days. Why do pure trance heads go to a place where they might hear house, if they don't like, all they do is cry like bitches. Then you got the former trance heads who are now into progressive or techno and claim they never listened to the genre. I mean hell, I grew up to grunge then euro in the mid 90's and I don't deny it. Just don't listen to it as much but I mean I'd still headbang to nirvana if the right oppt presented itself. Mark is right and so is Swamper, too many purists out there. I mean purists need an open mind, I mean most of us are trance lovers but NOT trance purists. Most of us listen to a wide variety of music. Then again the deejay is all about an interaction with the crowd and mark will tell you that you cannot make everyone happy.

Now to 103.5..Yes i understand, it is big money to hype pop trance and crap like that but they are doing nothing for the scene. Hell I used to listen to z1035 when they had sorta of a grasp about music but they have no clue in hell now. It's sad and pathetic that they go around having dj danny d trainwreck cd's and selling them as the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I think listen to what you want and quit the crying about the deejay did not play my stuff....either go somewhere else or become a dj yourself.

"You have no idea how many house head friends of mine go to Trance parties and have a great time but are quick to forget the genre that was played - sad really - but that's what conformity does to you."

Read that sentence again and notice the subject "house head friends of mine". Conformity in seeing 'Trance' as something for newbies and not for experienced electronica listeners.

Do I have to say it a 3rd time?

I think the confusion is in your original generalization.

No, you didn't.

You can draw conclusions from observations of your "house head friends", but please do not generalize as I, and am sure many others, find it very insulting that you would consider the rest of us as being scared into other forms of EDM, and thus disregarding our own developed taste in the music.

Man...you took everything I said out of context..maybe I wasn't as clear as I could've been but it was 5am

people enjoy it - with reference to diehards in the other genres that are quick to just say 'trance sucks' and is for 'newbies'.. Scared in the sense of being labelled as an uneducated electronica listener if they say they're a trance fan, that's all.
