I'm interested to know what methods people use to do the pitch correction when live in the mix and get the pitch fader back to the correct position.
What i have been doing is putting my middle finger against the back or front of the pitch control when it is in its original position, then moving it with my index finger and thumb. Then i have my middle finger as a reference of where the pitch fader was originally, and can get it back ot the original position or wherever i want to put it after making the pitch adjustment.
I still touch the records when live in the mix but i would like to get better with the pitch fader so i can avoid this. Some records take a much lighter touch to move them and its difficult to know how far the record will move when you i it.
I have noticed huge differences between different records in my collection in how much force it takes to push/pull a record on the platter. I was looking closely at one of them the other day and it seemed to warped slightly inwards which may be part of the problem (since less of the vinyl is probably in contact with the slipmat). Also some records seem to be heavier/lighter than others, and some just seem to cling to the slip mats more than others (possibly due to static?).
