That's ironic, most people around here would view your views as sick and bigoted. And yes, that's right, two consenting adults in a relationship is exactly the same as me forcibly getting hold of a dog and having my way with it. You keep telling yourself that.

And sorry, but unfortunately for you I fully intend to procreate, with a woman too, what a shame!

Why don't you actually cite some studies that prove that homosexuality is inherently harmful, against nature, or has no genetic/biological component. And for the record, if you'd actually read my post, you would note that I didn't advocate gays being given the right to marriage as it is now, but that an overhaul of the marriage system is (In my opinion) justified. But hey, if you'd rather throw around insults than actually talk about the topic, that's good for you.

Short answer:

Yes.

You could also, if you were married to a woman before the operation, still be able to continue that marriage after said procedure.

sweet, if this marriage with gays thing passes, my dream of marrying three wives all at once will finally be realized... wait maybe i can make a little community of 3 guys and 3 girls all married at the same time.

sheesh...

when will you guys understand, marriage is something religious, the change should not come from the state but by the religious instituations. as was said in the previous thread, civil unions are just as good in the governments eyes and should be all that is needed. pffff, i cant belive its come down to this. im defending religion here and im probably the least religious one here.

marriage is not religious anymore, not at ****ing all. it's all "time to settle down, get a diamond ring for her and propose"

religion has nothing to do with it anymore.

and when will you guys understand, gay marriage approval doesn't mean that polygamy will be approved.

My aunt was married by a judge. Nothing religious existed that day.

Vermont has the correct rulings on this issue. The state recognizes civil unions and civil marriages as being seperate types of unions. However, the state supereme court has ruled that the state cannot deny civil unions the rights that marriages are entitled to.

Maybe it's different in Texas, but here (I believe) that most people get married in a civil ceremony, performed by a celebrant, basically because they don't want to get a religious marriage. I think it's important to recognise the difference between a marriage performed by a religious institution, and a 'secular' marriage, so to speak.

Here, at least, marriage isn't really viewed as a religious thing, but as a secular issue.

Just to give an update....the Mass constitutional convention that was supposed to either:

1.) Ban gay marriage
2.) Ban gay marriage and have civil unions
3.) Pass gay marriage legislation

all failed by fillabusters. The next convention is set for March 11th, it's sure to be another circus!
