When it's the first thing one hears, it is hard for it not to sound new and exciting; that is why I have a hard time hating on the newer party kids who don't know anything. I still poke fun at those who should know better but never gave a shit enough to find out.
I have mixed feelings about my first tracks, for one thing they conjured up fantasy images of a scene full of people who did not resemble the realities of partying in the slightest, so it reminds me of the dissapointments as well as being reminiscent of the new frontiers of musical exploration.
ameteur music has a nice little charm to it though, knowing that it was made by a common fan just for the joy of making it and sharing it with others, even if it sucks, it isn't like you wasted some money, or the guy is making a profession out of sounding that bad, its just s fun little waste of time. I like the thought of a couple party kids with a computer putting tracks on the net, it is cute.
Perhaps it is unrealistic to expect everything to be unique and original and ground breaking all the time, maybe being imitative of a sound we like isn't all that bad a thing, I don't know. Sometimes I feel the need to find those gem bar-raising forward-thinking novel unique tracks, sometimes I am just happy dancing like an idiot to imitative nonsense.
What I do know, is that I always fucking hated that "gay master" track...
