I used to be like that. If it wasn't hard or uplifting, and played at a relatively fast speed, then I didn't like it. But that's changed now. Although I still listen to the harder side of things, I think Markus is one of the best DJ's I've ever heard. His music wouldn't be good to dance to in a club (for me at least) because it's too slow, but that doesn't make him any less of a DJ (or producer for that matter).
Take the big names: Tiesto, PvD and Ferry. I only really like Tiesto for his remixes (which he didn't exactly roll out many of last year), I only like PvD because his sets are generally faster and good to dance to, and I haven't seen Ferry yet. Although they're good, they all seem to play the same music. There's nothing particularly interesting about them.
With Markus, his sets are unique because (as far as I've heard) there aren't many people out there who play tunes like he does. His remixes are outstanding, and make for great listening in the background while you work. I think he easily compares to the top guys.
