I have to agree with plastikE. Trance just isn't mainstream over here. Here in Blacksburg the Drum n' Bass scene is really big. I'm not saying that's bad, I like Drum n' Bass every now and then. There are very few trance DJ's, and you can forget about any Goa trance around here. At least by living on a college campus most people I know are at least a little eclectic.

It's those damn videos of the european parties that I keep watching. Raves around here are a joke. You're lucky to get 200 people and most are too fucked up to care about the music. Most don't know the difference between trance and any other electronic genre, it just all "techno". I know because I use to be one of those types. That was before I got addicted to trance.

Trance is all that I listen to now, no kidding. It really hit me hard about a year ago and since then I can't get enough of it. I'll watch videos of Rank 1 at Trance Energy and see the crowd and just be blown away. I've been to a lot of parties, PVD in Washington DC probably the biggest, but I've never seen anything like that. I will go to one of the big trance concerts in Europe some day. I just need to get my poor college ass some money.

I think I drifted off topic a little, sorry. Anyway I'm new to the forum. This is my first post.

Actually you'd be surprised to learn how many people in the US actually *do* know stuff about trance. Even the people you never thought would know anything about it.

Also, don't forget how many people go to raves and clubs to see famous DJ's like PvD and Tiesto. A LOT. Also lots of Americans know about Armand van Helmand, Ferry Corsten, etc.

I'll move in with ya Prox!!

And US people don't worry it's the same everywhere. People in the UK who're not into dance music also think anything over 10bpm is techno I reckon Trance is going to explode in the states in a big way over the next couple of years, and I also think it will bring a lot of fresh blood and fresh ideas into the scene. Can't wait
