i am super sensitive w/ animals and life... i'm one of those ppl that feels guilty for stepping on a bug...it's ridiculous. but when it comes to stuff like that, i mean we have to learn SOME how. it's just too risky to do surgery and things of that nature by looking at a diagram...

it's just about the ranking of species...

i sure as hell wouldn't want a doctor who has only studied books, etc. performing surgery on me... it's more like respect for science and life of humans. besides, they're all in rat heaven living the high life and eating cheese so it's ok

Good for you man! You know, enough people like us amount to less demand for such atrocities. One single life is worth it, human or not. I've caluculated that since being a vegetarian, I statistically reduced the demand for around 3-4 cows per year, and countless chickens. (not that I eat that much, but It's not like we aren't wasteful consumers either). My argument when i was non-veggie was that it was more disrespect to NOT eat the meat, because there will never be enough vegetarians to curb the market, but i realised that it was compelte ignorange. Complete bullshit self justification so i didn't have to feel like a shit, because i wasn't strong enough to be veggie. I'm a proud veggie now, and no, i'm not in everyones face about it, my buisiness is mine unless others inquire. Which is contrary to public opinion on vegetarians. Any of you who think that veggies don't amount to shit, search for vegetarian restraunts in your city. If they're half as busy as any meat restraunt, thats probably several cows a week less. This is all very very rudimentarily simple. the logistics, as well as cause and effect of beign vegetarian are vast and complicated. The resources are all available. Sorry if this letter has stupid english in it, i'm really tired of correcting everyhitng, i've got alot going on despite finding time to squeeze in an argument here and there : )

but that's nto it.. there are cadavers and body donations to sceince, we don't raise humans for vivisection. I don't want to hear this argument anymore. Good for you for feeling compassionate towards all animals.

Yeah humans were definitely not born while doctors thinking "Hot damn! This will make one amazing specimen to cut the hell out of!"

And yeah you read my crap earlier about not agreeing with disection, in general...

but i do eat meat and so on....even though its been proven that being a vegetarian is way more healthy.

The only thing I can't get around though is regardless of what we eat, we're still KILLING. That's natural. It's required.

Dont know where im going with this, but....how do you feel about killing the hell out of plants? lol

Well, killing is natural for animals. I ask you with all respect, is making circuit boards normal? Is posting in a forum evolutionarily instilled? While i cannot dispute that there are infact highly unevolved humans all over this planet (note cynicism), the most of us are highly evolved. we are clawless, fairnly herbivorous, slightly omnivorous (as indicated by teeth), have weak muscles, not hair on our bodies for survival 'on the hunt'.. Etc. We're not equipped. We are itelligent. So why can we claim that killing is still our domain? Killing the hell out of plants, you can't prove sentience in plants. They're not conscious animals with complex nervous systems with love and enthusiam for their very own existance.

[Edit, if plants are sentient (Or even rocks, as the noted Jim De Wit argued) I can say safely that it appears that they have less consciousness than would an animal with a complex nervous system]

I understand that plants might appear to not have the characteristics that animals have, no worriez. What i'm saying is simply that plants are being killed. Point blank, final. That's about all I'm trying to say with that argument.
As for killing still being our domain...hell yeah it is. It seems like all we do is kill. Maybe not for the same reasons as before (food and the like), and we definitely do not have those animalistic traits, but we nonetheless kill as a means to acquire what we need.....and there are some jerks that just kill for fun, animal control, blah, blah, and more blah.

Regardless, being a vegetarian IS good......eating animals isn't bad..

but being a bastard and doing away with a specie, or killing something that has some sort of complex rendering to it is evil.

this is fun
we need more chatter in here.
