if you get really stuck trying to use a dance track try 'metallica - master of puppets'. if your class doesn't mind a bit of metal that is...

Master of Puppets Lyrics

End of passion play, crumbling away
I'm your source of self-destruction
Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear
Leading on your deaths construction

Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You're dedicated to
How I'm killing you

Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master

Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

Needlework the way, never you betray
Life of death becoming clearer
Pain monopoly, ritual misery
Chop your breakfast on a mirror

Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You're dedicated to
How I'm killing you

Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master

Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

Master, Master, Where's the dreams that I've been after?
Master, Master, You promised only lies
Laughter, Laughter, All I hear and see is laughter
Laughter, Laughter, laughing at my cries

Hell is worth all that, natural habitat
Just a rhyme without a reason
Neverending maze, drift on numbered days
Now your life is out of season
I will occupy
I will help you die
I will run through you
Now I rule you too

Come crawling faster
Obey your Master
Your life burns faster
Obey your Master
Master

Master of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause I'll hear you scream
Master
Master

Ha ha ha ha

one of my favourite metallica tracks

You Are Sleeping doesn't work for two reasons:

a) It's not really about a social issue so much as the drama of the protagonist himself, and his experience.

b) It's just a monologue, not a song.

I think We Want Your Soul would be very good.

Plumb - Damaged

One of the saddest songs i know of, at first it sounds like a break up song, then after a while it dawns on you its about suicide, that changes everything that song like makes me want to tear almost

Kai Tracid - Too many times

Just about clubbing, ODing, drinking, binging, benders, and shit that people like me do to much

Gotta put in a word for: Jason Downs - Cherokee (Creamer & K remix)

"Come from a country town
where there's life all around
and we help each other when we're feeling down.
Takes a tribe to raise a child
maybe that's why I see
so many suffer in the city.

I used to own this ground
But now there's no place around
for a Cherokee
in the great big city.
[bum bum. bum bum.]
Now where do I go from here
I can't sit here in my
my self-pity
I've gotta beat this city . . .
[Boom chick ducka chick boom chick ducka chick]"

I never thought of ASRC as a song about E.I always thought it was about the music and you.
We go deeper into the sound.
As The Rush Comes.....I thought it was the highyou get from listening to music....the rush coming when tracks build and build and then kick.

Guess there are many ways of interpreting it.

If you want a song about social issues, isn't there a song on PvD's Reflections that is supposedly about starving kids in India? Personally I think you could find much better songs to do it on since Reflections was a horrible pile of shit, but that's the first tune that came to mind.

As for PQM - You Are Sleeping, here are the lyrics as I have them:

and here is my commentary on them...from another thread I made a while ago. Feel free to use it and expound on my theory :

I am totally loving this song because of course it is very diffirent but it is brilliant if you think about it. I love the part when she says "no scratch, no snatch" and at that moment the dramatic melody comes in and it's like "the irony of it all" kind of thing eventhough it literally isn't but it feels like that - you know a still picture of him on the streets and this unheard of situation that he's in. I don't know how to really explain the feeling but you might have felt it too when you listened to this song. It's magnificent - it sends chills down my spine.
