so the 'cool' people listened to trance in 2003, the same thing happened in 1999 and in other genres before then, everyone gets into something just cause it's different, they hump the life out of it and then desert it and bash it, true fans never do that, guess theres just a lot of those sheep around at the moment. People like you will always be into something until it's no longer seen as cool to do so, and the scene doesn't need that. There are a lot of tracks worth hearing in many styles, techno, psy, epic trance, tech-trance etc, if you really dislike trance that much then fuck off to progaddict or breaksaddict or whichever one is the one you want to hump next. Trance will never die, the only thing dying is the support of people who don't really contribute to it in the first place, and that's a good thing cos it might get better again if everyone and their pet cat stopped trying to like it. |
This "warcry" of trancers is as nearly worn out as these threads themselves. For starters, its flat out wrong taking into the account the number of assumptions it makes. It's a lot easier to file everyone under their own little stereotyped categories than it is to face the real issue. The ratio of shit:good in trance long since went pear-shaped. To be fair, you can only combat "fire with fire"
It's a sign when people ITK consider "above and beyond", MIKE, Paul Van Dyk and "rank 1" as the "premiere artists" of an ENTIRE genre of music that it has probably gone to hell. When these artists aren't too busy making songs that abuse the already tired whore of "epic trance" (which a large many seem to thing is synonymous with "trance", I'm afraid I find it to be poorly representative), they are busy trying to come off as serious or whatnot while simultaneously producing total shit that is insulting to your intelligence. What I consider music doesn't come with a , it doesn't come pre-packaged into some nice little container format that is fit to abuse ad nauseum.
In what I find fit to call music there exists dynamics. Every song doesn't revolve around 3 minutes of beat-less masturbation and another 3 minutes of intro and another 3 minutes of exit and the other 30 seconds delegated to a drumroll. When you can skip to a completely different part in an album and not have to listen for 30 seconds to realize you're listening to a different track. These specific things might not apply to every single track by above producers as I'm sure the quick witted among us will point out but I'm confident you can piece together what I'm saying by now.
No doubtedly I'm already inciting blood pressure spikes in some "epic-trancer's" brain as s/he reads this message. Perhaps some flaming will eliminate said condition.
