Fully rested is the way for me. No drugs. I don't need them to be creative when spinning. Maybe a beer or two though is ok sometimes and every once in a while I'll have a mixed drink(preferably vodka) just for shits and giggles.

st. john's wart

don't know if any of you have heard of this but..

i like to take st. john's wart before i spin sets. it's an herb they sell at most natural food stores. it relaxes me and really helps me connect with the music. you all should try it sometime. you gotta take a lot to feel the effects though..

to keep me on the safe side when mixing i usually always keep an vodka bottle at home and takes a glass or two before the mixing session. As borron said u get more creative with the eq's which i usually ain't when im sober, this will make the mixing an even more of a experience even if the beatmatching can lack sometimes when drunk.
