Actually I had quite a funny conversation with my roommate (here in Kingston), who is originally from North Bay and goes to Montreal every week or two - and incidentally, he's never been a listener of any kind of electronic music. And yet the conversation went something like this:
Me: "You're going to Montreal a lot these days"
Him: "Yeah, well it's nice to get away for a weekend, and my dad has a place there.
Me: "That's cool, Montreal's an awesome place, I wish I could go there every week."
Him: "Well, you go to Toronto all the time."
Me: "Meh"
Him: "They both have their ups and downs. But the funny thing I notice about Montrealers is that they seem to have some kind of... inferiority complex."
Me: "What?"
Him: "You know, like they always seem to be comparing themselves to Toronto, putting Toronto down to make themselves feel better or something."
Me: "Hmmmm..."
Him: "Sort of like what Canada always does with the U.S. It's like they're always saying, 'at least we're not Toronto'."
Me: "Interesting, I've got some friends from Montreal and I never really noticed that kind of thing...
...actually, come to think of it..."
Remember - he's from North Bay, has only been to Toronto a couple of times, and has never been to any dance or EDM-related club in either city.
Hahahaha, your city needs to see a psychiatrist man, why the need to prove that you're better than Toronto? You never see us boasting about how we're better than you, most of us like Montreal.
C'mon people get a life.
