since 1859 when The Origin of Species was published, proposing the modern theory of evolution.

Then you have to also take into consideration that evolution may not always be parsimonious, so any change is therefore evolutionary.

But I guess most people would see it as "moving forward" to a "higher" level. Even I use it like that when talking outside biology terms.

well im not gonna argue evolutionary biology with a zoologist but evolution to me has always meant an improvement, i wasnt aware that change per se = evolution. thus my use of "devolution".

but in any case, in the context of music i doubt someone changing their tastes could be classified as evolution, unless you can identify a previous taste in music as categorically inferior

Haha, yer like I said, outside of biology, evolution = improvement.

Change = evolution is something I just like to argue, its not all biologists point of view by any means. I just love debating theories

ridiculous that you said someone is sad for liking the same music as 3 years ago, yes.
ridiculous that you are a tool, hmm.

I'm not drilling down to the level of tunes, however if someone has exactly the same list now as what they did three years ago, then yes. I think that person would have been closing themselves off to new music at their own detriment.

heres something revolutionary - someone might actually still like something from 3 years ago AND listen to new music.

Evolution is still improvement tho, because evolution = removing inferior parts-- so: i'm born randomly with an extra finger on each hand: but when eventually all mankind has 6 fingers on each hand, 5-finger people are seen as inferior because they were bred out: the 6-finger people are better because they survive, while the 5-fingered FREAKs are all dead...

all the 5-fingers are removed from mankind because there's a better model available (the 6-finger)--

no?

yes but if the same thing happened with 4 fingers instead of 6 it is still evolution. even tho 4 fingers is a step backwards.

technically evolution = change. not necessarily improvment.

but as gumble said most people see it how you explained

With new technology that comes out every year, there are new ways producers go about writing music - different production techniques come into the mix and you get an entirely different sound. Therefore if a person still likes a producer till this day - who are you to say they are listening to the same sort of music and closing themselves off. Secondly is it not possible for someone to listen to new music from various producers and still think the producers they have listed in this thread 3 years ago as their favorite?

If this is possible then what you are saying holds no merit.

Listen to liebs free lsg album and then listen to rendezvous in outer space. They are completely different.
