Everybody was dancing on Gouryella, Britney Spears and the gang... it was cheese, and that was it... Nowadays, I'm part of these people which just can't dance on this kind of music, but prefer stuff such as Dresden & Schultz, or even good old music, which is a music which will never turn outdated because of its nature...
it's like trend... trends change, people change, there is no sense turning back: we've got to live our life based on our feelings and not about the ways we used to feel some years ago. It's the same question if you ask yourself: will I call back my ex-gf ? No way ! |
You've hit on some interesting points. As we get older, there are special periods in our lives which we remember having more fun in than others. Life in 99 was so different; it was near the turn of the millenium, and there was more bright hope and optimism, hence more of the upbeat dance/pop songs such as Alice DJ or Eiffel 65 or madonno that (for those of us who liked that stuff back then) sounds kinda cheesy and dated now. The world evolves, and music evolves with it, and with the exception of the fortunate few that become an integral part of the musical evolution (IE Sasha and other pioneers of trance), we really have no control in the directon that music takes. It seems that when it comes to the music, most of us live in the past or the present, and that it's only those blessed with creative genius that get to live out the future of sound.
