He may not be a rockstar DJ but he has a huge fan base.

In a sense, piggybacking the rockstar dj with cox (who is also as big but just not in toronto)

Please list some of the events where you saw these line-ups and all the main DJ's that were playing? I don't think I've ever seen a 4 hour line-up anywhere... not even close in fact. Unless the place had a capacity of 100 people, but even then, noone in their right mind would waste their time in line.

Hawtin has a huge fan base in Toronto and Detroit and a few other select places only, but it still can't compare to CC... He didn't draw a great crowd when I saw him in NY and he never drew that great of a crowd the times I saw him in SF. Even when I saw him at System a few months back, the place was packed, but I think most people made it in in a reasonable amout of time. Add to that the fact that System is a small club. If Carl Cox tried to play System, it would be utter chaos... the club just couldn't support it.

In this sense i agree but i think hawtin has the drawing power to bring a koolhaus sized crowd to Toronto.

Globally Cox owns but we are talking about Toronto (or at least southern ontario)

The parties im talking about are Industry Toronto (where 100s were turned away), Several parties thrown in Windsor including one a few months ago where a capacity crowd of 1500 resulted in a line up 2 blocks long being turned away.

oakey will be in one room and cox and hawtin in the other......what's the problem????? why is this even an issue??

do you go to the local cineplex and complain that they're showing 12 different movies in the same building???

if you don't want to catch oakey stay away from his room!!!! this isn't the first time the guv has held events with different styles in different rooms....

Please name venues and the date. Otherwise I won't believe a word you say and just assume your talking out of your ass.

Many DEMF/Movement related events in the Detroit/Windsor area have those lineups...

As for local lineups being ridiculous, as much as ppl go on about the CNE/BLC events back in the day, the lineup to get in there was always massive, and I attempted attending 4 events in 99-00, and eventually sold my tix each time and fucked off to Industry... Doors open @ 9, I get there @ 12, and my friends who get there @ open are still near the middle of the lineup.

Each DJ mentioned could easily fill the KH up on their own. Oakie, Cox, and Hawtin have each developed huge fanbases, all quite strong in this region, and aren't here exactly frequently. Cox filled Industry regularily for years, and every Hawtin event I've ever been to in Ontario was always packed. Oakie has dropped off the charts over the past few years, and gotten quite stagnant, but is still a first step into the scene for a lot of people, and his fanbase is still greater than that of his detractors.

This event really isn't that different, or mind-shattering than what is offered from the Guv on a long weekend. Everyone is entitled to their opinions on each artist, and has had different experiences @ their shows.

But please refrain from the worrying and suppositon of what "may" happen, and how it "may" be negative. If that's how you feel, use that knowledge to positively change your night the way you think it will succeed, and keep the worrying out of it... you'll have a helluva enjoyable time if you do.
