************ of its' roots, trance does follow the same chord progressions found in most pop music. Additionally, a majority of it also incorporates the "Find a hook, modulate it a bit, then loop it ad nauseum." Musically both trance and pop are very much in the modern category, as opposed to the classical category. Whereas classical pieces (on the whole) evolve through melodic changes, trance pieces (on the whole) evolve through structural changes.

My parents are cool with it, my mum even likes some of it, they never bother me about listening to this type of music, just tell me alot to turn it down when I crank my system, my Dad likes to try and annoy me now and then by calling it Shed music, becuase of genres called House, Garage, Jungle, but oh well, is funny sometimes.

Yes perhaps saying Trance is a form of Classical music was a bit stupid. But the roots are there. The thing which separates trance from other forms of modern music is the classical "style" chord progression hooks (often a cut down classical riff for want of a better word.). Obviously it is still dance msuic and in that sence it could never have the progressions exactly like classical music. But IMO true trance is very reliant on classical roots.
