In all fairness I'm not Tiesto and I can't put words in his mouth so I wonder if there is mention of this in one of his interviews.

Thanks for sharing that, aloep. I was unusually surprised, and I enjoyed that excerpt. I agree with you there.

That sample sounded kind of BT-ish, sort of the Flaming June vibe (ironically) but perhaps more in line with his IMA era. The piano was nice!

when my best friend & i snuck into a club when we were 16 (thats a big deal in the US), and we just started listening to trance about 3 monthes prior. We snuck in to see Judge Jules and he dropped Ferry Corsten - Punk, which was our favorite song... i'll never forget that night and that moment... its just one of those moments that just makes everything you do worth-wild.

i googled why he cried.........

This is a question from Liz also from Cape Town: "I read an interview that you cried after inner-city in 1999, because it was so overwhelming. How much emotion do you put into your DJ sets?"

Tiesto:Well at that time I was very emotional, because it was my first big set for 30,000 people and I was overwhelmed by the response. I was under so much tension the whole day because I knew if I played a good set over there I would have my breakthrough in Holland. But I always dreamed about it. In the beginning when I was DJing, I dreamed to be a big DJ in Holland, not worldwide. World Wide was like "Ahh…Impossible!" And that's why I cried because I felt like I achieved something, after all those years of playing in small clubs and not getting any recognition.

Definately the day Soups arrived, he changed everything, he showed trance to the ones that deserved it. They say trance and electronic music is repetitive, and its quite true you know when Soups mentioned anything about ETS-Global Basic Beats. Oh how I and a few others LOVED it. It created Radness in electronica's culture and it would NEVER be the same. It influenced me on ATW to do a shoutout, "Hey guys..."

Apparently "Beat Foundation" is a predecessor of sorts to "Groove Armada" if I'm reading some of this discog info correctly, which is, to say the least . . . fascinating. What's next, "Rhythm Militia"?
