Wow. I can't believe the rates y'all pay. When I was 18, (and after I had already been in 1 accident), I was only paying $122 a month for my insurance in BC (on an old Nissan Stanza, but still).
Since then though, I haven't had a need to insure a car, (and don't have one now that I'm in Ontario), but I doubt it would be much more for me to do so back in BC

I was paying just under $200 a month on a 97 golf

I changed companies, and because I was within 60 days of my 23rd birthday, I got a lower rate, which is $124/month
woohoo for Meloche Monex!

dude it would be like saying, you pay the same amount for insurance as a person that has been in three car accidents a year. obviously, the person that is a higher risk for an accidient should pay more (men are more likely to get into car accidents). if you think that it should be equal then it should all be equal. why should we descriminate against those idiots that get into car accidents?

because having an actual history of car accidents proves you are a risk. Saying you will probably get into one just because you have a penis is not.

We have laws that protect every single minority in this country from descrimination like this yet this is still allowed.

B.C's insurance system is quite a bit different. You can't compare the two of them.

^ They are very different. How are they different? BC's is still regulated. Ontario deregulated theirs, and said it would be cheaper.
Privitization sucks.

you can never have an accidient again too. just cuz you had one before doesn't mean you are going to have another one. but it is a risk just like being a guy. there is greater risk. i don't understand why the heck you can't grasp this concept. well, actually, i do know that you get it but you are just typing bullshit for the hell of it, to get the last word. cue Jayx1 repeated comment in 3.....2.....1....

Yes you read correctly $7300!!!! And all because a "family member" was charged with Careless... What is that? I've had my OWN car insurance since I was 18 years old. TOTALLY separate from this person. I did however finding a comany that was comparable and settled with them. PHEW Anyone else have problems like this?

From an insurers point of view, anyone with a drivers' license in your residence *could* have access to your car, even if it's just "an emergency" or "one time thing". This doesn't even have to be a family member, it can be a roomate or tenant. Lie and you could theoretically have a claim denied on the grounds of misrepresentation.

Don't lie to your insurers folks...trust me...they are all looking to reduce payouts and they WILL deny a claim if they have a strong case for doing so.

It's funny how this thread pops up and this topic is the only thing on my mind right now. I totally getting arsed by insurance. They're not renewing my policy because of the age of the vehicle is twenty years old ('84 VW rabbit GTi) and falls under another class which they don't insure old skoolers. So I got an email from my broker stating that I need a safety (! oh no!) and.....the best he can do is TRIPLE! from what I was paying last.

Fockers. From $1200 to $3500+ from some unknown company, jus for an accident which wasn't my fault (a write off tho), a speeding ticket three pointer, and a three B&E's on my car. I guess this all adds up.

Anyway I am doin my homework, but this jus my bitch session here cuz it means NO:
Tiesto, PVD, Armin, Cox, DT, TR events, buhbye three day or OM, or jus big parties in general.

Why? for safety brakes need to be done, some front end work, and lots of odds and ends. (can't afford another car, if that's what your asking) personal guesstimate including paper $500

new insurance first and last around 7 bills unless i get a super deal.

All in one month, not including my many, many other expenses which are choking me alone :confused

So if you wonder where I've been, I haven't given up on the scene I'm just broke!

Maybe small local parties for me now! Supporting friends sounds good to me.
