I got a Canon S200 that I need to figure out how to use in clubs. My pics always come out blurry or just look like shit. Anyone got any tips?

I know malek's using a special flash to make his pics so well lit...otherwise you just have to play around with i guess...

yes, get a new camera

hehehe

seriously, don't use the flash. Play with the aperture time and the F number. (less for the F is brighter for close subjects and blurier for the far objects...)

The reason I like the S200 is because it is so small and I actually dont really mind carrying it around in the club. But I guess 2.0 megapixels doesnt cut it these days

Malek you said play around with the aperature and the F number. What the heck is the F number?

Yeah what he said...that's how I was playing with my 2MP sony camera till i finally got it right...well at least the best i could pull out of it....but he's right...usually the club is full of smoke or other shit that's flying in the air that will deflect the light particles and make your pics looks like shit...try not using the flash indeed good suggestion malek

Actually, I'd have to disagree with the comment made earlier about not using the flash.

You have to understand that without a secure source of light most of you're photos will come out blurry in a club environment. (unless you use a tripod for every photo and there must be sufficient background lighting) The trick is to know how much light from the flash needs to emitted and how to blend the flash with the surrounding lighting.

This blending effect is knowing your venue, knowing your equipment and all its settings. Be aware when to change your ISO levels, your aperture and shutter speed. Most of the time no one location in a club is going to have the same lighting, therefore its important to know what settings to use on your camera and flash.

Trial and error and practice!

To ensure a focused photo you have to hold the camera very still, take a deep breathe before taking the photo! Also, if your camera has a infared assist lamp, use it! Don't forget to also find a location that has proper background lighting to ensure that the cameras autofocus sensors are also in check!

If you're camera has a Manual Focus, I would highly recommended you use this feature in a night club environment!

Almost all digital cameras have a feature to lower the flash. Check out the camera's manual. Generally a good place to start learning all the features of your camera.

Normally you have the option to lower or increase the flash in small intervals.

Hmmm is it just me or did Aria add another set of decks and now djs can choose whether they want to use the rotating knobs or sliding faders?!?
Or was it always there and I just haven't seen it before?!
