hehe the good old reason discussions
being a reason user im happy with how it works and what i can achieve with it (the export sucks a bit, cos that always changes the sound a bit).

but if you look purely to the soundquality of cours reason cannot compare to music produced in a high-end studio. those studio's are an environment build to achieve the clearest and best sounds. therefor the cost at least 1000 times as much as reason. people who think reason or any other softsynth can achieve the same sounds are blind (or deaf)

though you can get a really good sound with reason, but even i can hear the difference in soundquality between a tiesto and a envio/fictivion track (on my crappy stereo that is, and don't tell me i cannot because i can i know what im hearing and it's not just in my brains hehehe, i agree with veverka on this).

then i come to the point in how far people care. well, i agree fully on what tom_cowan said: "Quality is important but only to the point where a reduced quality is to noticable to the average listener."

quote:
I also think that a producer doesn't want his music to have a little less quality, whether the average listener cares or not

i think this is within the limits of what you can do with your equipment. mk-s, envio, fictivsion got the max out of reason, so they have acieved your statement. as they continue to grow they will probably spent money on equipment to get an even better quality.but there is always room for improvement i guess.

then one more thing (my last point). the reason vs. vst shit. i tried some demo's of the better vst's and i must say they sound really good. though, not impossible to create with reason imo. just takes more time and a good usage of fx.
and even if the soundquality might be a bit less in reason, so is the soundquality from the vst's compared to real high end stuff

reason sounds like reason, fruity sounds like fruity, cubase sounds like cubase and if a track is really good, it's really good. even if the quality is slightly less.
now let's all live together in peace and enjoy making music

john

to me, the production on "girls" is pretty much perfect. if it doesn't have the same powerful bass as smack my bitch up or whatever doesn't mean anything. it's a pretty different tune anyway

btw, cool tune, but i hope for some more spaced out tunes on the album as well
