i haven't handled the pcv 18 but i bet its still constructed the same way most vestax are....pretty solid.....just has less to offer i have owned 4 vestax's the pmc 55,46 mk2,27 mk2 and the 175 all are onstucted in the same fashion..
its the same with allen and heath, rane ,etc....same construction just less features etc......thats how i base my judgement on the ecler.....its not much to go on but i would rather see that mixer for myself before i order from some shop online and find out its built like all there other mixers and i paid 400 more dollars for some effects and better xfader |
i understand what you are saying, and i agree that befoire buying, using would be preferable. taking on your bmw analogy, i would say that you are comparing an older bmw to one of the newer 5 series. although yes they are both built with quality, but the newer bmw's have very different components in them than a bmw had 5-10 years ago.
what i am trying to say, is that they can't build a new mixer out of the same bits and just stick an effects unit in it, and charge double the price. so my best guess is that they have stuck a lot more heavy-duty components in there (faders, eq knobs, x-faders that will last ages etc) so that clubs are more likely to get it. ecler are taking on the djm600 with this one, so i seriously doubt they will make a shit job of it

Ill write a formal review once I get used to this.
I just brought this from a gig I played at.
Its very clean even for a loud system there was no buzzing that I hear.
As far as the effects go, I need to expeirement this at home...I have been pretty scared using the effects live since I just only owned the mixer for a couple days prior.
Also a nice note it's built very strong and is very all around. I can scratch REALLY well on this im surprised.
For 715$ its awesome!

Im a little curious about these smac pros 30s or 40s. Whats with the slanted faders? I've never touched one, but i sort of think using the faders to mix, might be a little more annoying with slanted faders? Anybody have any experiences with them? Are the really any good for mixing?...They seem to be marketed more twords the scratching market.
