The fact that Jeff is currently living in Toronto, is a huge Boa supporter, and had no clue Party Harlequin was a promoter speaks loudly enough from my point of view. |
You're right Jon, i had no clue. As far as i knew he was just doing what i was doing. There was no announcement of sorts, but to me thats not really something that needs to be done. I do see both of your points, and youre both right in a way. What im thinking (and im speaking for myself), maybe Noah hasnt been promoting right from the get go and just didnt know if making an announcement was something the guys at Boa wanted. I think Rony & Carey (Boa owners/promoters) are doing a great job in getting the word out, and dont really need another "official promoter" posting for them on the boards. I consider myself a Boa promoter, but not by contract. Ive met the boys from Boa, chilled with Sean Miller after every set of his, and really i just feel these guys need maximum exposure. I know they dont NEED me to do what i do, but i feel that anyone i bring to the club that normally wouldnt go, is the least i can do to a club that i feel has greatly improved our scene.

However if it becomes apparent that the person DOES work for the club, his or her actions then speak for the club itself.

Oh really? So if you work at McDonald's and talk about food you are speaking for McDonald's itself?
I see...
EVERYONE WITH JOBS AT COMPANIES... STOP ALL COMMENTING NOW OR RISK YOUR JOBS!
Seriously.... sometimes you need to think things through.

I dont agree. Everyone has a right to maintain their anonymity. Do you announce the company you work for? Of course not.
Its up to the person to decide if they wish to reveal their identity by revealing their place of work.
However... the one exception is if you are a promoter and it is your job to be public about where you work. Then yes in this ONE exception id agree with you. But for anyone else including DJs, your assesment is otherwise wrong.

You can't equate an employee of McDonalds with a club promoter.
1. McDonalds is an international corporation with thousands of employees - the actions of one employee make a neglible difference on the reputation of the company. A club is a small business, in one community - one person being an idiot makes a much bigger difference, especially when that person is communicating on behalf of the club.
2. The promoter is PAID to make the club look good, so it pays off to be upfront and professional when interacting with potential customers, whether it be online or in person.
You seem to know a lot about politics, but somehow, know f-all about public relations and reputation management. |
Again, ONLY if the person's job is that of a promoter do i agree with you. It's their job to make the club's image. Otherwise i disagree. I make many statements that both concur and disagree with the management of my job. That is my right as a private citizen to do so.
