Review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Greg and I decided to go to this when we thought that phil, rach, and ryan might go.... well... none of them went, but we made it even though i had worked 2 12 hour shifts in a row and had an 8 hour shift to do the next day (which really sucked despite the fact that i hardly drank a thing... a feat since the drinks were only 1.50)
the club was really hard to find, and when we walked up the place looked so wierd that i called leann to tell her how it looked like a yuky bowling alley (pics to follow soon... you'll see)... so admission was only 5$ and we walked in and there were 3 different club "rooms" on either side of a long hallway. the bathrooms were at the end of the hall and i swear they were the BIGGEST bathrooms i had ever seen (like 40 stalls!!! and no bathroom attendant... woo!) the club that james holden was spinning in was a small lounge. we got there around 11 and holden came on at 1145. i saw 2 djs open, and unfortunatley i didnt catch their names, but the last guy before holden was pretty good. Greg mistook him for holden b/c he had short hair like the flier (i really didnt know what holden looked like except for the BIG eyes)... i thought that it was this skinny dude that was hopping around the club and looked kinda like cris robinson for the black crowes.... well IT WAS!!!!
Holden came on around 1145 and opened with a portishead remix (pretty sure it was roads)... i like prog a lot, but am horrible at iding prog tracks (just a prog beginner) but he did play a song i think i heard scott play in atlanta with really cool child-sonding vocals "WE CALL IT DANCING" he was doing a wonderful job, and then right when things were going crazy, the sound died. We were right in the front and Greg says to him "Well you might as well dance" and he started breaking it down. EW! one funny comment... he was wearing his pants so low that every time he turned around to get a record you could see his buttcrack.. i wanted to get a pic, but missed it... sorry girls. the dude must weigh 90 lbs soaking wet.
anyhoo... despite the sound cutting out AGAIN after it took 10 mins to fix the first screw up, we had a great time. james seemed really humble about the sounds problems and took it all in stride. we met 2 ta "lurkers" rizzo and kelly who had also driven all the way from gville for the show... you guys better join now!!!!
we got a pic with james at the end of the show... funny how you cant see his famous eyes in any of the pics! it was a small venue and nice b/c you could drool on his setup b/c it was so close. the visualizers were also really incredible (no lazers or intelligent lighting tricks tho)
pics to come soon!!!!!!!! ALL YOU SUCKERS MISSED OUT!!!
