You obviously don't know what Final Scratch is. From what I've seen, is you have some sort of vinyl on a deck that you use to control the mp3 with. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I believe that's how it happens.

DJs don't just stand there, get a graphical read-out on the BPM, and call it good. I'm willing to bet those using Final Scratch still do as much as they can to not use auto-features, etc.

Wrong again.

Final Scratch can use WAV or Mp3 but to mix those the DJ uses TIME ENCODED VINYL on a set of normal decks thru a normal mixer and an interface to the laptop.
basicly all the laptop is there for is like a record box.

there is no mixing done on the laptop, its all done on normal decks and a mixer with time encoded vinyl.

the Dj using final scratch is using all his vinyl mixing skills to full effect.

Yup, thats how it works, but i must admit using a program like final scratch is nothing like normal vinyl. It can be to an extent...but its hard to ignore all the other features (the display on your laptop)

Don't we feel special now? Just fire up Kazaa, download a few tracks, half-ass mix them in an audio editor, and bam you're a dj. I'm impressed.

well, yes.
i never said i was good dj or professional for that matter.

tough you still need skills to make it fantastic.
many people mix on computer and its just the same.
sometimes you need imagination.

Why? Because you have to work to get results?

If you think you can become one of the top-10 rated DJs by sitting on your ass doing not even a half-assed job, then you are quite mistaken.

i just think people who keep spining on vinyl alone are way undeveloped as djs.

That's not what you first said. And no DJ is "undevelopped" because s/he's only using vinyl. Afaik, everything in the club scene is still being released on vinyl. It's not like you can't do without digital.

What it boils down to is that digital music is gaining more and more popularity for various reasons and the most important one probably being comfort. It's more comfortable carrying it around and you can easily keep a copy of all your music at home so that if your music gets lost you can still retrieve it. I don't imagine any major DJ converts his weekly vinyl supply to MP3 before leaving to a gig at the other end of the world.

yes?
well how come Tiesto is number 1 for two years on the row?
he is like the lamest dj i know, but just because he spins trance(which many people dig) and makes show, people will like him.

i actually think some of the best djs were way behind. so, its all about the show as it seems and knowing what people like in this business. not how much work you put on the turntables.
