Thats a very dangerous level of knowledge. Tends to tear countries apart. Hollywood political activists for instance.
and atheism these days seems to be defined as "Against Christianity"
they think the "philosophies" of the east are cool, because they arent white, european, or american, and arent violent. its funny when they say that and you look at how many religious rebellions have occurred/are occurring over there.
oh yeah, and its cool to not be a white, christian, american, straight, male who is well educated, dressed, and successful. Thats taking advantage of something or someone somewhere, we are sure of it! |
Perhaps you shouldnt define by what you think, instead of what is fact, and maybe your points would be more correct. It seems you have your own qualm with what you are, as opposed to the message I was saying, as those who try to spread christianity where it doesnt want to be spread. I dont mind religion, I hate preachers.
As for this talk about motivating yourself from doing nothing? why do these countries (Canada, USA) need so much motivation? why is everyone obsessed with doing something and meaning something? Im sorry, but if you ask me, its these highly motivated people that scare me the most, stock market swindlers, serial killers, christian fundamentalist...these are highly motivated people.

According to you? lol

not really.

unsolicited preachers yes. But when someone is hurting and you are there for them, and during the conversation about love and life, you happen to witness what made your life better, and they get interested, that isnt preaching.

So what are you trying to convince me of exactly? That motivation is bad?

Orbax: Just to point out, not all 13-year old athiests are the annoying types with the tibetain Ankhs and stupid bullshit like that. Yes, i know one or two myself, but i was 13 a few years back, and am still athiest, and am still liberal, but don't have a problem with anyone's religion - some people even tried asking me about their spiritual problems - not that i could give much advice. I didn't do any weird fake religions, and i didn't bitch about things. The weird ones give the rest of us a bad name.
And just wondering, what do you have against gays?
I am in no way attacking you in this post, and judging by your posts in the "what girls want" thread you seem like a really cool guy. just one who generalizes and rants a bit.

generalizations help us move through life
I dont know if youve ever seen someone die, or seen an animal dying, you just get this instant gut feeling that this is WRONG. Gayness does that to me. I have had gay friends, co workers , etc... they are out there and fun a lot of times.
Its not all "gut instinct" though.
Im not going to really get into this, cuz its not the point, but while a lot of people think its Not Wrong, they seldom say HOMOSEXUALITY IS RIGHT! whats right about it? Love? I love dogs, doesnt mean im sexually attracted to them.
Also, on the religious level, the man/woman relationship has been thoroughly defined.
on a social level i think that paternalness and maternalness cant be faked, or superceded by any convention. Not to say there arent bad parents and role models in the straight community, but I dont think its really an argument on whats better for society.
maybe there is. I dont really care. I think its dead wrong, and I dont support it. I support the people who have to go through the alienating, lonely, and scary world of a homosexual, however. It aint an easy life, and I dont believe in making it more difficult for them.

Motivation is a tool. Thats like saying guns are evil.
youre first thought was about how its a weapon and it kills people. It also can be used to hunt and provide for a family.
People are good and evil, and they use tools to those ends.
