Iam getting a bit pissed off with everyone who talks total bullshit on these forums with titles like...

'melodic trance is dead'

'techno is the way for the future once trance dies'

'trance is dead?'

For fucks sakes your supposed to be tranceaddicts! not a bunch of arseholes who go on the forums and make posts on how melodic trance is formulatic, done before, and sooooo '99!! trance is what it is! 99% of us still love melodic trance so the rest of us why are u trying to scare everyone by telling us trance is dead? it hardly sounds like thye talk of a true TA? If u don't like it keep it to yourself, IMO you can either listen to trance and appreciate what it is or fuck off! I mean lets face up to facts here Trance and Hard house, well at least in the UK anyway are the two most popular genres there are, so how the fuck can it be dead, and techno?...well iam not saying techno is dead, far from it, but techno is a lot less popular than trance so how can that be the way for the future once trance supposidely dies out!

In my record store there is a section where there are hundreds of dance vinyls of all genres and everyone picks up the trance and hard house vinyls, the biggest and most popular clubs still book teh biggest trance DJs, so what does that say for the popularity of trance, while trance may not be as popular as it was in '99 the supposed backlash of trance is just one big loada bullshit invented by the media to kill off trance...and i can't believe some of u are falling for it!

a) epic and melodic trance does tend to be very 'formulaic' and generally follows the same pattern, thus the craving for new ideas... thus progressive

b) why r u shouting @ people and telling them to keep their opinions to themselves, when neither u or anyone else has the right to tell people what they should think about trance? we all have our opinions and veiws on certain sub-genres of trance, including urself, all of which are valid on this music forum.

c) was there any need for the way u made ur point? Flystyler said all that stuff...

d) this thread is yet again an example of childishness and the need of some people to flame the other person to toast.

haha! also VERY true, all the boring house stuff that djs play now gets described the same

e.g. 'deep soulful blissful house'

'chunky beats'

'funkin' tribal workout'

'funky textured layed tribal'

what they mean is: BORING CRAP!!!!!!!!!!

how can anyone make it sound so exciting! lol! it makes me laugh! [/B]

So it's okay for you to sound stupid but not John Digweed who actually is somebody in the music biz?????
I looked at this thread about 5 times trying to keep myself from participating in this foolishness but some things just have to be said. Deep house is way above your level son. If you truly believe that it is boring crap then you've never really listened to it. The reason these DJ's are making these comments is because mad producers are throwing strings and cheesy vocals together and blowing up. That's because if it doesn't sit well with people like "us" (you, me, many of the members of this website) who can truly say that they love music than the pop culture will eat it up and they don't want to be a part of pop culture. I was listening to trance for years before I even knew what progressive was and I still couldn't give an exact definition to save my life. The point to this useless rant is don't come out and say stupid things like "Why Don't U All Just Fuck Off!" because you end up looking stupid. I know that your true intention was to stop people from making these generalizations about music you like but your point gets lost when you turn around and do the exact same thing.

P.S. Deep House rules

**edit... u know why **

simply put. uplifting/epic trance was meant to be beautiful and in my opinion commercial uplifting trance isn't. i believe the innovation behind the artists who writes these tracks are lost and the true art in the music is forgotten because money is all they see, i'm afraid. thats the sad part.

also something being popular, therefore being really famous or big commerically, does not necessarily mean its actually good. i prefer the sound of the underground. its so much more creative.

btw i'm very pissed off today but notice how i kept my cool and didn't tell everyone to fuck off. sorry i'm being an ass today but thats just me. don't ever take me too seriously.

I don't understand why we need to fight over what kinds of electronic music each one of us prefers.
I personally love all kinds of music. Who the fuck cares what people say about the style of music u like? Listen to what you want to. Fuck people that even pay attention to what's popular and what's not.

We are all in this for the love of the electronic music. I begining to like some Progressive Trance, I still love Epic. I begining to like Electro, Hard-House, Hard-Trance, Techno, I will admit that I listen to some Euro-Dance once in a blue moon. (you think that's not popular, I don't give a shit of what you think about my taste).
Music is there to relieve us, to help us express our feelings, how you do it, is entirely up to you. I will admit that I listen to some classical music, i used to listen to some house, rap and r&b.

Music has been a part of my life for half of my life now. Why fight over it. Why give a shit of what people think about your tastes.

well the point of having these forums is to promote conversations between one another about electronica. when that happens opinions are bound to differ from person to person. its inevitable. we don't have to fight to go about things and we usually don't. its just some people choose to express differently and people start to take comments seriously. thats when the trouble starts. also if everyone started to agree on just one view/opinion, life would be boring.

If you ask me, i say Trance is in the condition it is today because in order for you to be good, you have to be more talented to do it now then before. Therefore it's not as simple to make great tracks as it was before, that's why there's a lack of good tracks comming out right now.

So trance (by which you probably mean uplifting and not the entire genre) is in trouble today because you have to have more talent to produce it nowadays ?!? And why do you have to have more talent today? Of course, because it is in the state it is today?!? Your argument to me seems circular.

And on the main subject: Why do you die-hard uplifting fans have to start a new thread on this subject *every* week? Can't you just dig out one of the older ones and restate your opinion? And if you're really that happy about the current sound of uplifting, why not just enjoy the massive amount of new tracks in this genre, and not letting the "avant garde" opinion of Mix-mag/Muzik/Ministry etc. get to you?
Finally I'm off to a long day with lectures on Turing-machines, there were no hot water today and I just saw a horrific documentary on the way Taleban treats its opponents yesterday => I'm unhappy - but, like TurboGS-R, I'm managing to get my point across without taking the opportunity to let it out on fellow TAs.

ok..ok, lets get some facts straight here...

1) You all seem to see me as someone who can't stand other genres of dance music, well thats not true...i can like some hard house, progressive trance and maybye go as far as some prog house. Afterall this is a music discussion board, so anyone can discus anything. Iam just pissed of with the amount of people who talk about prog house...or whatever then start dissing trance and calling it old and formulatic. I don't give a damn fucking shit what any of u listen to and if u ask me prog house/tribal/deep...etc... is the most formulatic of all, ive listened to pete tong and sebs sets on the radio and to me its just some clicky-clacky baseline with a few randow moaning whooshy sounds thrown in now and again. And if u love it? FINE! just dont slag off trance ok?!

WTF! This is just what Iam pissed off about, everyone making threads on how epic is dying!

And who said that ppl don't wanna listen to epic anymore because its 'popish' and commercial. Well if all your listen to dance/trance for is because its underground then why the fuck are you on TA? I love trance for what the music does to me not because its underground. If thrash metal suddenly became underground you'd probably start listening to that as well! Personally I couldn't give a flying fuck how commercial trance is or has become. as long as the tunes keep comming out, ill keep buying them. Even if every DJ in the world stops playing epic and moved onto droning housey shit. Ill keep listening. Why? because I love trance fro what is is, not because it is or isn't underground.
