as far as being before trance...i think trance as a genre came into being, for me at least, with the Eye Q record label back in 1991...and that was even a little earlier than this tune...so i don't believe it to be pre-trance...i would say its a great example of it actually.

Is Eye Q a German label? Has anyone heard Virtual Symmetry - Vaporize, which was released on that label?

No, you're the first person to nominate that track actually! That's the beauty of Trance; there's too many classics, and everyone has different tastes!

yes you are right about Eye Q being a German label but by 1994...which is the year Dark & Long (Dark Train Mix) came out...i would still hold that trance was far more reaching than just germany...

a real quick list of some fav's from 1994 that for the most part is trance...

Dissidenten - Jungle Book Prt 2 (B-Zet Mix)
Jones & Stephenson - The Frist Rebirth (Original Mix)
Legend B - Lost In Love (Original Mix)
Li Kwan - Point Zero (Original Mix)
Mory Kante - Yeke Yeke (Hardfloor Mix)
Paul van Dyk - For An Angel (Original Mix)
Pete Lazonby - Sacred Cycles (Original Mix)
Subliminal Cuts - Le Voie Le Soleil (Way Out West's Summer Of Love Mix)
The Auranaut - Interactive (Understand)
Underworld - Dark & Long (Dark Train Mix)
Union Jack - Two Full Moons & A Trout (Caspar Pound Mix)
V-Tracks - Heretic Voices (Original Mix)
Vernon's Wonderland - Vernon's Wonderland (Original Mix)
X-Cabs - Neuro (Original Mix)
Yothu Yindi - Timeless Land (Original Mix)

i mean you also have other huge trance labels from the early ninties like Platipus in 1993...which is a UK trance label...

Couldn't the same be truthfully said about other genres of music as well though? I mean, what is it about trance that would make it so special?

In Drum 'n' Bass (mainly kicked off in 1995 with Optical, Goldie and Photek), everyone generally likes the same artists, ie. Bad Company and Pendulum, and you often hear the same tracks being metioned, ie. Bad Company - The Nine and Pendulum - Vault.

Trance is so varied with all the sub-genres, including Goa Trance, and has so many producers on the scene. It's probably the most popular of all club music, with Ibiza etc... If you're going back to 93 or even 94, there's an endless amount of classics to be tracked down.

I'm not a big DnB head, but wasn't LTJ Bukem around doing stuff before 1995? Plus there's also the liquid DnB subgenre that is gaining popularity very fast.

But as for personal favorite, I guess it would either be Narcotik - Blue, or The Tastexperience - Highlander
