are you one of those people who i could play urban train and silence along with 15 songs that are very old and youd call it the best set ever?

yea i agree stips, but not on the Armin comment.
Armin is ok for an easy listen experience, but he dosnt excite me much, just good to hear him play and dance along.
As you would know i am an avid J00F fan aswell as Marco V, these guys are really leading the way of trance IMO.
As for my sets, i love to vary my stuff, if i have a 2 hour set i love to start off proggy and kinda obscure, then move into the prog trance, throw in a few uplifting tunes (mostly old ones tho as there is not much new stuff) and then finish off with a few tech trance & techno tracks

the funniest thing about all this is, while you beleive your 99 trance is not cheesy and '04 trance IS cheesy, there are enthusiasts (one i know who frequents this board) who were into trance in the early 90's who thinks the epic 99 shit you love is cheesy as well. it's a big case of "theres too many noobs now, i used to listen to trance when it WAS decent"..
unfortunate news flash is that when you were getting into trance, there were people back then in the position you are in now.. its like retro music, people born growing up in the 80's will listen to that prince shit day in and day out because it represents a certain time in their life and it represents a feeling that they will never get from a certain style being heard today..
not saying i totally disagree with you, no no no. i've said many times that most new productions coming out are terrible.. thats not to say that there are the few that do it for me..
and by the way i like kraft spreadable.

i'll come out and say it. im jaded. i wont say i hate current trance but by toutatis, i dont go out of my way to listen to the stuff like i used to. i love my house, my tech, my top 40 pop. sorry to say it but trance to me in this point in time is a little stale. tech-trance gives me hope but then again it aint out and out trance now is it?
