Dood! No need to be an uber-serious, no joking, no games, no fooling around type of person.

It is a joke (applicable to most people on this board) and an endearing one at that.

FYI: Being "buggered" is that blissful state between being messy and being straight.

I don't normally get offended easily, but this is something that is a major concern of mine, and I wanted some serious advise. Thank you to those of you who took my thread seriously, and responded. As for you rabbitjoker, I am all about jokes and having a good time, but this just wasn't the time. But I forgive you.

I've gone through this exact situation myself. None of my friends from home party with the exception of 1. I have to dance around the subject. We constantly have the "I'm wrong, my scene is bullshit and only losers party" fight. No joke. They became very abusive and it really hurt. I know my friends care about me, but they don't respect or understand me as a person. Hence why I don't really hang with them all that often anymore. I don't freak at them because they want to go out to a bar and get loaded every Friday and Saturday night because I respect their decisions and really what they do in their spare time is their business. Like I said I avoid the subject when I do see them because really it's not worth fighting over.

True story for ya:

My buddy ended up getting into a huge accident while he was "impaired" and was charged. My friends thought he was out with me and had been involved in illegal substances.. Not the case, I informed them. I was out of the city. When they originally thought he was partying with me they were pissed, but when they found out he had been drinking somehow it became OKAY????

What the hell

The whole drug prohibition thing is stupid. What makes alcohol different from any other drug? Answer: the ability to tax it.

I've found people with the strongest anti partying convictions are usually the ones how have never gone to a club, never done drugs, and usually get their knowledge about all these evil party drugs from paranoia invoking reports and misinformed news articles. Yes, there are some serious risks that you face when you choose to do drugs in a club, and unless you're a complete dumbass you should take the time to find out about the consquences and simple precatious that most experienced clubbers can tell you about.

People fear what they don't understand. Your friends are probably no different. They are right in caring for your wellfare, but if they are judging you on what you choose to do one month of the year, then i'm sorry you shouldn't take a step back and defend your actions. Tell them to get informed, or STFU about stuff they have know nothing about. It might sound rude, but i believe by defending yourself too much it will only give someone the impression that you know it's wrong, and you're helpless to stop doing it so you're defending it.

Most of the people i know who do E, are responsible, successfull adults who are aware of the risks of doing drugs, they also exercise proper restraint and do the simple things when using which keeps them safe. If you can't educate your friends, or point them towards the literature which addresses the issue in a unbiased fashion, then tell them that while you appreciate their concern, you don't appreciate them preaching, or judging you on something that you as an adult have choosen to do.

we both have a lot in common! Although I am lucky to have friends to party with, most of them are not partiers at all....except for the going out and getting trashed thing..! I don't judge others for how they like to party....as I expect the same in return.

I just am curious to ask any of you T'A if you have friends that are not partiers and are totally against doing drugs such as E. I have the most amazing friends. What I love most about my friends is that they are different. But trying to explain to one of my good friends who has never partied that it is a choice I have made a long time ago is not as easy as it may sound. I know drugs are BAD and they have negative side affects and shit....but I think I am old enough and responsible enough to make my own choices and my friends should respect that. I have no regrets trying E. It honestly is the reason how I got into the whole electronic scene. I love the music, I love to dance. I have fallen in love with the scene to know now I don't need drugs, I only get high to dance till the very end!! I have partied sober before though...and I know I just have a blast the same. I love the music too much not to enjoy myself. One of my girls said to me the other day, "aww Kel you are so much better than that..." I have no response to this nor do I think I ever will. People that I know do drugs for the sake of getting F@#!%$ up I will never really understand. That is why I know my situation is different from that kind or crowd. My brother for example.......he will NEVER be a real partier, but yet he has tried the drug and has loved the buzz. I thought maybe him trying the drug would open his eyes to this amazing scene.......but not even close. So my thought is e has given me the gift of appreciating the best music ever and I am lucky to be part of this whole exerience. That is why I have no regrets, and people that think I am less of a person for this........well it is their loss. I guess the reason for this whole thread today is how do you guys deal with this sort of thing... I know I can't be the only one. In conclusion,if there were no music....well there definately would be no point to drugs. It really is all about the music!!

It's not ALL about the music - if it was all about the music then I'd just stay home and listen to mp3s (uh... I mean, CDs, that I purchased, legally, yes that's it...)

But seriously - it's about the music, the friends, the people you meet, the dance floor, the vibe, and well, occasionally the drugs are part of it too. That's what the "scene" is - pure hedonism, nothing more, nothing less. Hedonism comes in various forms, sober and high, it's whatever you want to make of it.

Take it from me, I partied for a year and a half without ever touching a single pill, so I didn't have to "find out" that I could go sober, I knew that all along. I still don't do it often. I've gone many nights without even a red bull, sometimes I just have that much energy, which apparently surprises some people. So I can't help but laugh when I hear preachers thumping on about how drugs are bad and I'm throwing my life away and/or getting a "fake" or "artificial" vibe.

But it doesn't matter that I "can" go without drugs or even that I can enjoy a party just as much that way - the fact is, the scene does take on a whole new meaning with just about every funky chemical, so it is a pretty silly thing to pretend that those chemicals are just quirky little add-ons like a tylenol is to a bad headache. A lot of people start doing E on the same night they start going to after-hours clubs, so they don't realize that just one dose will change your perspective forever and even change who you are a little bit (usually in a good way!). You even say yourself that E was the reason you got into the scene, so obviously it is important even if it is not "required".

I think people tend to try too many new things at once, and it just becomes a big fuzzy hazy mess, and the significance of each individual part of it gets lost or blurred. Because it's not really about the *level* of enjoyment - it's about the *type* of enjoyment and its personal meaning.

Maybe we have to downplay the significance of chemicals to our brainwashed friends, but it's equally naïve to pretend that it is "all" about the music and the drugs are insignificant than it is to say it's "all" about the drugs and that they are "evil" or that you're "throwing your life away". The truth is neither of those things, and aside from those of us who've been clean our whole lives, that is something we have to come to terms with. For me, I just tend to be very open with most people about the subject because it doesn't matter to me what they think (with certain exceptions). Some people will freak out, other people turn out to be very curious about it and ask a lot of questions. Same as the music itself - some people think it's garbage, some want to hear more.

Be yourself, not what your friends want you to be!

That's right. I've also been wearing bra straps on my head.
