What we need at clubs like guvernment is the regular line and VIP.

VIP means you pay $200 each and have a reserved table in the VIP area. Not the welfare gino "i cant afford to pay $10 to get in" line

Everyone else = normal cover

Freebies = only if you know someone. As in you REALLY know someone like a manager or the owner or the dj.

yeah but man, that won't work.

clubs need promoters, so the only good way is the reduced list and guest list to reward them.

anyhow, the guv isn't the kind of club to have tables and sit with a bottle... take it to a lounge / supperclub.

sure it is... many clubs in europe and south america do it that way. Vegas and the US too.

Ibiza is all about the super expensive VIP tables at megaclubs.

Toronto is clubbing welfare capital. Everyone who owns a club here knows it. Many of the international Djs know it.

This is the only town in the world where the guest list line is routinely 5 times longer than the regular line.

Iv always wondered why clubs actually need promoters.. i mean it doesnt make any sense to me that jfl gives louis reduced passes to shows like tiesto to sell when he could easily sell them online for a higher price. And I dont think promoters would come anywhere near the same reach that flyers and websites would. What are they actually good for?

with Guv .. it's always best to play things safe ..

ie.
- come early
- sign up for guestlist or media pass asap (the demand is always very high for these sorts of things)
- bring extra cash
- etc.

this place was notorious in the past for miscommunication. it's not a normal club, and it's not run like a normal club. i've been screwed in the past before and the only thing u can do is to take precautions.

it's unfortunate that these sorts of things happen, we do what we can to help accomodate everyone, but sometimes, regretfully things don't always go the way you plan them too.

Are you kidding? There is this one fucking prick at the Guv who every single time I go to him, he short changes me. And each time does, I make sure to catch his attention (after 10 minutes of him pretending that he doesn't hear me), get my change and leave him no tip. He makes sure to give me a lot of attitude when he gives me my change back.

I always tip bartenders but short changing people is just unacceptable.

sometimes promoting via. word of mouth can be more effective than conventional advertising. esp. if you want to target a certain audience that can't easily be reached.

Well then you get the regular line

Go to pacha in Argentina and see what happens when you ask for VIP. They will ask for $1000 pesos for the table for the night.

The original idea of promoters was to distribute fliers and get hype going on the street level. How they ever elevated to some sort of club star status is beyond me. Sadly now everybody and their mother expects guest list and Toronto clubs are forced to use it as a gimmick rather than the money maker it should be similar to the example i mentioned above. We have developed a culture of welfare "VIP" clubbers in Toronto. I wish clubs would step up and reverse this stupidity for their own good.

Promoters should have a very limited guest list or no guest list at all. If you want to give a discount as a promotion then the flier should say "$5 off with flier". Any self respecting and established club wouldnt even need to do this anyways. If you get a guy like tiesto in who you know is going to draw, promo is all you need. Discounts are not required.

i was pissed off to come early because I was lured that they would charge crazy money later on. Which never happened.

I saved a big 5 bux.

and guest list should be named reduced list emery, its worthless.

I always get fucked over with the "guest" list in Toronto.

And the next time someone from Toronto asks for Guest list to Aria i'll him.

oh trust me, reduced tickets for events like Tiesto are very very limited in numbers... (to the point where it pisses off promoters)

owners aren't stupid, these events sell by themselves.
